
Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary-led state government has ordered a comprehensive inspection of government-aided madrassas to ensure quality education and strengthen monitoring of institutions that receive financial aid from the state.
In the instructions issued by Education Department Secretary Vinod Singh Gunjiyal, all District Education Officers (DEOs) have been directed to conduct physical verification of those madrasas which get government help. The main objective of this inspection will be to ensure quality education in these institutions, whose staff are paid with the help of the state government.

Bihar Education Department, in its order, has asked madrassas, Sanskrit schools and other government-aided minority schools to provide information like number of students, teachers and non-teaching staff. Education Minister Mithilesh Tiwari said that the purpose of this step is to decide whether the government assistance received by these institutions is being utilized properly or not.
Madrasas, Sanskrit schools and other minority schools aided by the government have been instructed to upload the necessary information on the ‘e-Shiksha Kosh’ portal created by the State Education Department.
According to the order issued, the inspection will be done by three-member committees formed at the block level. These committees will evaluate the functioning of madrassas at the ground level and submit their reports to the concerned authorities. The purpose of conducting the evaluation is to keep an eye on the institutions that receive government support and also to ensure that educational standards are maintained there.
How many madrassas get government help?
Regarding madrassas, the order issued states that the Bihar State Madrassa Education Board will collect all the necessary information and in coordination with the ‘Command and Control Centre’ of the department will decide that this information should be put on the portal.
According to the board, there are 1,937 government-aided madrassas in the state, which receive government support from the education department. There are a total of 76,320 government schools in the state, including 712 government-aided institutions.
On the other hand, according to Bihar State Madrasa Education Board, there are more than 3 thousand madrasas in the state where more than 7 lakh students study. More than 15 thousand teachers work here.
Appointment process of Pro-Vice Chancellor
On the other hand, Lok Bhavan has announced to start the appointment process of Pro-Vice Chancellor in 14 universities of Bihar. Online applications have been invited from eligible academicians in the advertisement issued on the orders of the Governor-cum-Chancellor. Applications can be submitted till 6 pm on 1st July.
It is mandatory for the candidates to have at least 10 years of experience as a professor. Persons with experience from reputed research institutions and educational administrative organizations are also eligible to apply. The maximum age limit of the applicant has been fixed at 67 years till the last date of application.
These appointments will be made in 14 universities, which also include Patna University, Purnia University and Tilka Manjhi Bhagalpur University. These appointments are part of a broader effort to fill key academic leadership positions at universities across the state.
