
The 150th passing out parade of the National Defense Academy (NDA) concluded with a grand ceremony on Saturday (May 20) at Khadakwasla, Pune. The parade was reviewed by Indian Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi. On this occasion, a total of 353 cadets graduated from NDA and moved forward to become officers in the Indian Armed Forces. These included 18 women cadets and 24 foreign cadets from 12 friendly countries. This grand ceremony was organized at Khetarpal Parade Ground.
During this, the Army Chief said in his address that this occasion is very emotional for him too, because 42 years ago he himself passed out from this same parade ground. He said that NDA is not just a training institute, but an organization that creates such soldiers who carry the values of service to the nation with them throughout their life.
Congratulations to the cadets and award winners
The Army Chief congratulated the Parade Commander, all the cadets and the award winners. He told the foreign cadets that even though they may have come from different countries, the common values and training of NDA have bound them together, which will strengthen the friendship and cooperation between the countries in future.
Mentioned about Operation Sindoor
In his address, General Dwivedi said that today’s security environment is changing rapidly. Threats are no longer limited to the traditional battlefield. He said that Operation Sindoor proved that India is capable of responding to provocations with precision, coordination and determination. He said that the foundation of the joint military capability shown in this operation is found in the tri-service training received in the NDA.
Give three qualities of a good officer
The Army Chief said that to become a successful soldier, the three most important qualities are attitude, adaptability and ability. He said that attitude is the internal basis of a person, adaptability gives strength to remain stable in changing circumstances and ability is not just skill, but the ability to take right decisions in difficult situations and win the trust of others.
‘War is always gender neutral’
The Army Chief praised the 18 female cadets passing out. He said that the women cadets have met every standard and look no different from any other cadet on the parade ground. He said, ‘Courage, ability and determination in the coming wars have no gender. War is always gender neutral.
Expressed gratitude to families and coaches
General Dwivedi also congratulated the families and instructors of the cadets and said that their sacrifice, patience and dedication played an important role in the success of the cadets. He said that today’s achievement is not only of the cadets, but also of their families and instructors.
The Army Chief concluded his address by mentioning the motto of NDA “Seva Paramo Dharmah”. He asked the new officers to perform their duties in the national interest by keeping service paramount as the country expects the highest level of commitment and leadership from them.
