Born on 23 May 1988 in Jalandhar, Punjab Sugandha Mishra Comes from a musical family. His family is associated with Indore Gharana and music has been a part of the tradition of his house. Sugandha took training in classical music from her grandfather Pandit Shankar Lal Mishra. Her voice was so sweet since childhood that people started calling her Chhoti Lata. However, apart from comedy, Sugandha’s songs also have their own fan following.
Part of reality show
Sugandha started her career as a singer. He worked as a radio jockey and then lent his voice in many jingles, bhajans and small projects. After this, she participated in the reality show Saregamapa Singing Superstar, where her singing was liked a lot and she also became the third runner up. Till that time no one had thought that this girl would later make a name for herself in the world of comedy.
Kapil Sharma supported
Actually, during his college days he met comedian Kapil Sharma. Both studied in the same college and participated in youth festivals together. Kapil used to do theatre, while Sugandha used to sing. During this time, the audition for ‘The Great Indian Laughter Challenge’ took place and Sugandha reached there jokingly. But, this decision changed his life. Her comic timing and mimicry were liked so much in the show that she gradually started making a mark in the world of standup comedy.

The interesting thing is that Sugandha herself gives credit for her success to Kapil Sharma. In an interview, he had told that his family was not ready to send him to Mumbai, but Kapil Sharma explained and supported his parents. This is the reason why Sugandha later worked in Comedy Night with Kapil and The Kapil Sharma Show. Her character ‘Vidyavati’ in the show became so popular that people started recognizing her by the same name.

What is Sugandha’s dream?
Although comedy made her a household name, Sugandha never left music. He also sang songs in films and tried his hand at acting. She has also appeared in films like ‘Heropanti’. While talking about her dream in an old interview, Sugandha Mishra says that even today her focus is on singing and her dream is to open a music institute in Mumbai in the name of her guru and grandfather.
