The plane took off from Linden Pindling Airport
The Bahamas Aircraft Accident Investigation Authority said in a statement that the plane had taken off from Nassau’s Lyndon Pindling International Airport and was en route to San Andros when it crashed. He told that the plane was of ‘Cessna 402’ model and was registered in Bahamas.

The Ministry of Energy, Utilities and Aviation said in a statement that suspending Flamingo Air’s air operator certificate is only a precautionary measure taken for safety reasons as authorities investigate the cause of the crash. The ministry said that this suspension has been done due to two security related incidents that took place on Friday.

During the press conference, Energy, Utilities and Aviation Minister Jobeth Colby-Davis said that the first incident had happened on Friday itself with a plane of ‘Flamingo Air’. He said the plane was headed to Mayaguana when the pilot reported a problem and diverted the plane back to Nassau. He told that after the plane landed and the passengers disembarked, it caught fire. That incident is also being investigated.
