
An important initiative has been taken towards further strengthening the language and cultural ties between India and Bangladesh, under which the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) will host a delegation of Hindi students and teachers from the Institute of Modern Languages, Dhaka University from 2 to 10 July 2026. This nine-day tour is being organized under ICCR’s Student Visitors Program 2026-27. This program is being organized with the joint efforts of ICCR and High Commission of India, Dhaka.
During the tour, the delegation will visit major educational and literary institutions of India and interact with experts related to Hindi language, literature and Indian culture. Proposed meetings of the delegation Dr. Varun Gulati, Secretary of Sahitya Akademi, Prof. Head of Center for Indian Languages of Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU). Sudhir Pratap Singh, Chairperson of the Hindi Department of Delhi University, Prof. Sudha Singh, Head of Hindi Department of Banaras Hindu University (BHU), Prof. Vashishtha Dwivedi and Director of Central Hindi Institute, Agra, Prof. Will be from Hari Shankar. In Agra, the delegation will also interact with students from different countries studying Hindi.
Language and education will get strengthened between India and Bangladesh
ICCR says that the aim of this initiative is to give new strength to language, education and cultural cooperation between India and Bangladesh. Mutual understanding and contact between the people of the two countries will be promoted through the study of Hindi and academic exchange.
Both the countries together celebrated ‘ICCR Day’ on 10th April.
Earlier on April 10, the High Commission of India and IGCC had celebrated the 77th anniversary of the establishment of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations as ‘ICCR Day’ at the IGCC campus in Gulshan, symbolizing the enduring cultural partnership between India and Bangladesh. More than 30 famous artists of Bangladesh, ICCR alumni and IGCC students participated in this program.
Announcement of scholarship for Bangladeshi students
In February this year, the Indian High Commission in Dhaka has announced two scholarship schemes under the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) for the academic year 2026-27, which aims to support meritorious Bangladeshi students wishing to pursue higher education in India. These scholarships include Suborno Jayanti Scholarship and Lata Mangeshkar Dance and Music Scholarship.
