Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been awarded Seychelles’ highest honor ‘Guardian of the Blue Horizon’ for his leadership in the field of environmental protection and sustainable development. This honor recognizes PM Modi’s long-standing efforts for sustainable development and his ‘Green Vision’. This is another honor in the series of global honors praising PM Modi’s work on tackling climate change, sustainable development and green growth.
Just before this, in May 2026, the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) had awarded him the ‘Agricola Medal’ for strengthening food security, transforming agriculture and promoting sustainable farming. Earlier, in 2018, he received the ‘Seoul Peace Prize’ for advancing sustainable economic growth, global cooperation and inclusive growth. In 2018 itself, the United Nations honored him with the prestigious ‘Champions of the Earth’ award.

‘Very proud of India’s 1.4 billion people’
During the press statement with Dr. Patrick Hermini, President of Seychelles, PM Modi said, “It is a matter of great pride and joy for me and the 1.4 billion people of India to be awarded the honor of ‘Guardian of the Blue Horizon’. I humbly accept this honor and dedicate it to all the countries that are grappling with the challenge of climate change. PM Modi said that environmental protection is our responsibility towards the coming generations. Admit it.
PM Modi said that my visit is taking place on a historic occasion, because Seychelles is completing 50 years of its independence. We are celebrating the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between India and Seychelles. In these 50 years, we have transformed friendship into trust, trust into cooperation and cooperation into public welfare. The Indian Ocean has shaped the relationship between India and Seychelles for centuries. Its waves have continuously promoted trade, culture and human relations between us.”
