After the crushing defeat in the Bengal Assembly elections, the troubles of Mamata Banerjee and her nephew Abhishek seem to be increasing every day. On one hand, Mamta is facing the challenge of keeping the party united, while on the other hand, Abhishek’s problems seem to be increasing in the teacher recruitment scam. In this case, ED has reached his residence in Kalighat. The ED officials had a file in their hands on which summons was written. That means the officers had come to give him notice of appearance. According to initial information, officials had come to investigate the recruitment corruption case, and have called Abhishek on June 15 to join the interrogation.
Actually, the war is intensifying in Mamata’s party over the claim of the real TMC. Assembly Speaker Rathindranath Bose has recognized Ritabrata Banerjee as the leader of the opposition. After this Ritabrata held a press conference. In this he said that he has the support of 60 MLAs.
What did Ritabrata say in the press conference?
Ritabrata said, there is no TMC leader in the assembly. This is a team. He has the support of 60 MLAs. With time the work may be divided. At present, there are 58 MLAs elected on the symbol of Trinamool Congress, the main opposition party in the assembly. Right now I am saying this because the remaining 2 are out of the state. They will give their consent.
He said, I have sent a letter to Raghunathganj MLA Akhruzzaman as the chief whip. He is the Chief Whip. There are four deputy leaders. It includes former minister of state and long-time MLA Javed Ahmed Khan, former minister of state Sabina Yasmin, Shiuli Saha and Sandipan Saha. He said, I have handed over the letter signed by 58 MLAs to the Speaker. Almost all the MLAs were present.
‘…So I will not hesitate to praise the government’
Ritabrata said, Hamidul Rahman is not well. Rathin Ghosh left after the meeting. Of the nine MLAs who won on Trinamool’s election symbol from Howrah Rural district, eight were present in the Chief Minister’s meeting. 15 MLAs from South 24 Parganas and Sandipan Saha from Kolkata were also present in the Chief Minister’s meeting. Altogether 24 MLAs were present in the Chief Minister’s meeting.
He said that opposition MLAs got an opportunity to speak. I appreciate such meetings. We will play the role of a responsible opposition. We will fight inside and outside the House, keeping an eye on the government. If the government plays a positive role then I will not hesitate to praise it.
