Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, in a special and emotional program organized at the Delhi Secretariat on Friday, paid heartfelt tribute to the citizens who lost their lives in the horrific fire incident in Malviya Nagar (Haujrani) and the tragic building collapse accident in Saket (Saidulajab). On this occasion, the Chief Minister honored the courageous citizens, policemen, administrative officials and rescue workers who saved others without caring for their lives by giving them checks of Rs 21,000 and citations.
As a special guest in the program Malviya Nagar MLA Satish Upadhyay and Chhatarpur MLA Kartar Singh Tanwar were also present. During this, the Chief Minister specially honored Riyazuddin Mansoori, who showed courage and wisdom and saved the lives of many people by laying mattresses during the Hojrani fire incident in Malviya Nagar.
Appreciating their humanitarian efforts, the Chief Minister also reimbursed them the cost of the mattresses used by them and also gave them a check of Rs 21,000 as incentive. During this, two minutes silence was observed in the memory of the civilians who died in both the accidents.
Rs 10 lakh to the families of the deceased, Rs 2 lakh to the injured
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, while paying tribute to the departed souls, expressed deep condolences to the bereaved families. Also announced that an ex-gratia amount of Rs 10 lakh will be provided by the Delhi government to the families of each person who lost their lives in both the incidents.
Apart from this, financial assistance of Rs 2 lakh will be given to the injured persons. He directed the officials to ensure the distribution of relief and assistance amount in a prompt, transparent and time bound manner so that the affected families can get immediate assistance.
Expressing deep condolences to the people who died in accidents, the Chief Minister said that there are some moments which shake the soul of the entire society. Malviya Nagar fire and Saket Bhawan accident were such heart-wrenching incidents, which have caused unbearable and never-ending pain to many families. While an entire family perished in the Haujrani incident, the families of foreign nationals who had come to India for treatment also had to face this tragedy. This pain is not only of the affected families, but of the entire society and country.
Appreciated the local people engaged in relief and rescue operations
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, while praising the local people and officials engaged in relief and rescue operations, said that if prompt action had not been taken in that hour of crisis, the damage could have been even worse. The indomitable courage, service and collective effort shown by our citizens and policemen despite limited resources is a source of inspiration for the entire Delhi. Delhi Government salutes all such heroes who set an example of humanity.
He said that the Delhi government stands with the affected families with full sensitivity and commitment. Also, safety standards, disaster management mechanisms and awareness will be further strengthened to prevent recurrence of such incidents in future.
Know which heroes of humanity were honored
On this occasion, District Project Officer of South District Disaster Management Authority Chander Prakash, Inspector Ritesh Kumar Sharma of Delhi Police, Constable Manish Kumar Jangid, Constable Vivek Shakya, Constable Angad Meena, local residents Kapil Giri, Harjeet Kumar and Dr. Rafiq Khan, who made significant contribution in the relief and rescue operations during the Saket Bhawan accident, were honored.
Apart from this, the Chief Minister honored Israr Khan, Kamal Kumar, Shashi Kumar, Pawan Kumar, Rakesh Kumar, Sanjay Goyal, Shiv Kumar, Govind, Kunal, Mohammad Uvaish, Mohammad Afzal, Mohammad Anees, Aamir Khan, Wasim Raja, Mohammad Sohaib Khan, Riazuddin, Inspector Vinay Yadav, Head Constable Dinesh, Head Constable Kartar, who contributed courageously in the rescue operations during the Malviya Nagar fire. Rajveer, head constable Deshraj, Wasim Khan Gauri and Rajpal were also honoured.
While congratulating all the honored persons, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said that the Delhi government will always encourage such courageous and humanitarian work and will continue to work considering service to humanity as the highest value.
