Allahabad High Court has taken a very strict stance on the increasing gun culture and misuse of arms licenses in Uttar Pradesh. The court has clearly said that public display of weapons creates fear and insecurity in the society and weakens the rule of law. The High Court has sought answers from Yogi government, DM of all the districts, Police Commissioner and SSP. The court has also asked how people facing criminal cases got arms licenses?

In fact, during the hearing of the case Jai Shankar alias Barrister vs State of Uttar Pradesh in Allahabad High Court, the court raised serious questions on the arms licensing system in the state. A single bench of Justice Vinod Diwakar said that the Arms Act and its related rules are not being followed properly in all the 75 districts of the state. The court admitted that gross negligence is being done in the process of issuing, renewing and transferring arms licenses.

Shocking figures came out in the affidavit
