Happy Birthday Karisma Kapoor: Karisma Kapoor, the ‘queen’ of the 90s and Bollywood’s number-1 actress, is celebrating her 52nd birthday today. Bollywood’s beloved ‘Lolo’, who ruled the hearts of the audience with blockbuster films like ‘Raja Hindustani’ to ‘Dil To Pagal Hai’, has turned 52 today, but her charm and charm is still the same as it was during her time of shaking the box office. Even at this stage of age, Lolo does not seem to be stopping. But it is very surprising that in this entire century (after the year 2000), only one big hit film came to the theaters in Karishma’s account.
Since 2012, she has completely stayed away from the big screen. But it is said that talent never fades. Today, when films of big stars are demanding water in theatres, Karishma has joined OTT. With the help of web series, Karishma not only saved the sinking boat of her career, but today she is proving her acting prowess on digital platforms.
Only one hit and a row of flop films in the 21st century
The time after 2000 was quite cold for Karisma Kapoor, who gave one superhit film after another in the 90s. In this entire century, her only big hit film in theaters was ‘Dulhan Hum Le Jayenge’ released in the year 2000, in which Salman Khan was with her. After this, her film ‘Fiza’ with Hrithik Roshan got praise from critics, but it could only earn average at the box office. After this, it seemed as if there was a queue of flop films in Karisma’s career. Films like ‘Zubaida’, ‘Aashiq’, ‘Ha Maine Bhi Pyar Kiya’, ‘Shakti’ and ‘Rishte’ flopped badly at the box office. ‘Mere Jeevan Sathi’, released in 2006, was also a superflop.

Big shock of 2012
After marriage and children, when Karisma tried to make a comeback on the big screen in 2012 with Vikram Bhatt’s film ‘Dangerous Ishq’, she got a big shock. This 3D film based on reincarnation flopped so badly at the box office that Karishma stayed away from theatres. In fact, there was a lot of turmoil in his personal life at that time. Due to the long legal battle of divorce from husband Sanjay Kapoor and then the responsibility of her two children as a single mother, she took a long break from acting.
‘Sanjeevani Booti’ becomes OTT for career
When people thought that Karishma’s career was over, the digital world came as a boon for her. Karishma entered OTT with the web series ‘Mentalhood’ released in the year 2020. Her acting as a mother in this series was greatly appreciated by the audience. After this, her strange and suspenseful character ‘Shehnaz Noorani’ in the Netflix film ‘Murder Mubarak’ released in the year 2024 was also in the news.
Now Karisma Kapoor is doing wonders as ‘Rita Brown’, a brave police officer of Kolkata, in her new web series ‘Brown’. Without any box office pressure, Karishma is playing powerful and out-of-the-box roles on OTT today. It is clear that the charisma which was forgotten by the theatres, has been brought back into the shining world of Bollywood with the help of web series and OTT.
