In this series, on Wednesday, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta launched the ‘Green Drive Portal’ (greendrive.delhivanmahotsav.in) launched. For this, the Environment, Forest and Wildlife Department of the government had organized a special program. The government believes that this portal will help in the upcoming ‘Ridge Forest Revitalization Programme’A tree in the name of mother’ It is a revolutionary digital initiative to transform the campaign into a mass movement. On this occasion, the Chief Minister appealed to the people of Delhi to actively participate in this campaign for environmental protection.
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said that this portal is a powerful medium of public participation. Now any citizen can directly join this campaign through his mobile or computer while sitting at home. Four services have been made available on the portal, for which not a single penny has to be paid.
Plantation Slot Booking: People can book online slots for plantation as per place and time.
‘Tree Chariot’ feature: If any citizen, school, office, RWA or residential society has sufficient space for plantation, then Delhi Government will deliver the saplings directly to their premises free of cost.
Nursery Locator: With the help of this feature, people can get free saplings directly from their nearest government nursery by knowing its exact location.
Environment Savior: With this, every citizen of Delhi will be able to make a permanent contribution as a responsible ‘Green Warrior’ by directly connecting with the environmental campaigns of the government.
The Chief Minister said that this is not only a campaign of the government but of every citizen of Delhi. There is an appeal to everyone to plant ‘one tree in the name of mother’. Give the gift of clean air and green environment to the coming generations. Every plant will be an important step towards securing the future of Delhi.
Highlights of ‘Ridge Forest Restoration Programme’
- Grand launch: Union Home Minister Amit Shah will formally inaugurate the ‘Ridge Forest Revival Programme’ this month. The Home Minister will plant saplings at various places in the ridge area from north to south.
- Target of 70 lakh plants: Under this campaign, 70 lakh saplings will be planted in Delhi.
- Promote clean transportation: Along with giving impetus to the environment, 300 new electric buses and buses on new interstate routes will also be flagged off in this program.
- scientific approach: A three-tier forest structure will be developed to strengthen the biodiversity, carbon absorption capacity and soil conservation of the ridge area. Under this, native and long-lived species of Delhi like Peepal, Banyan, Gular, Neem, Arjun and Jamun will be planted.
