Gram Chikitsalay 2 Review: Whenever TVF makes a show, they have a simple idea to create a chill atmosphere and speak straight to the heart of the audience. That is, there may not be much fighting, bloodshed or screaming drama in the story, but there should be such peace and familiarity in it that the audience can watch it with pleasure while sipping tea. In this digital era of the year 2026, with its same simple style, another popular TVF show ‘Gram Chikitsalaya’ has returned with its season 2. Director Lalitam Tiwari is at the helm and this rural-comedy (series based on village environment) starts exactly from where its first season left off. If we say in just one line, ‘Gram Chikitsalaya 2’ has returned with its old simplicity, light laughter and the same desi-ness of the village, bringing a perfect peace. But is this new season running only on the basis of old memories, or this time the lives of these characters of Bhatkandi village have really moved forward? This time could Doctor Saheb completely win the hearts of the villagers? Let us discuss all this in detail.
Story: Like the last season, this season too revolves around our idealistic and simple doctor Prabhat Sinha (Amol Parashar), who has come from the city and is serving in the Primary Health Center (PHC) i.e. government hospital of this small village ‘Bhatkandi’. Even in Season 2, the sweet and heated argument between the educated doctors of the city and the simple villagers who live their lives in their own way continues. To help Doctor Saheb, his old platoon has also returned to work, which includes his always late compounder Futani, wardboy Govind and sweeper Dhelu.
Along with this, Dr. Gargi, who becomes a friend of Dr. Prabhat’s colleague, and the quack doctor of the village who considers Prabhat as his competition, all have been entered in the story. This time, a new twist comes in the story when the villagers slowly, but reluctantly, start understanding the importance of a real ‘Doctor Sahib’ and how he can really save people’s lives. Meanwhile, the fear of the team inspecting the hospital is also looming over the head, but the village has its own rules and regulations, getting entangled in which the doctor’s medical life sets out on a different journey. To know what happens next in his life, you should watch this series. amazon prime video But we will have to see.
Village Hospital 2
How is the web series Gram Chikitsalay 2?
Village Hospital 2 Divided into five easy-to-digest episodes, each lasting approximately 40 minutes. Its biggest plus point is that it does not feel heavy or boring at all. TVF’s strength has always been that it creates characters that are a little strange and also seem genuine. Since in the first season we were well aware of the color and style of Bhatkandi village and the special tone of speech of the people there, hence in this season the audience was expecting that now the story will pick up a little more pace. As expected, the pace of the show is fine, but at some places the makers have forced scenes to pass the time. For example, in one scene, three characters pull a wheelchair outside and sit in the sun and just start talking nonsense and gossiping about the village. Such scenes do not take the story forward, but only delay time. Apart from this, two characters from the ‘Panchayat’ series have been suddenly introduced in the show, which seems more like a ‘gimmick’ than the need for a story. It seems that the makers wanted to use the crutch of the popularity of ‘Panchayat’ here. If the makers were confident about their material, there would have been no need for such unnecessary padding.
Direction and writing
This time, writers Vaibhav Suman and Shreya Srivastava have introduced a new villain in the story and that is a corrupt government official (Dinesh Lal Yadav ‘Nirahua’), who is sitting on the stock of essential medicines. This track shows the bitter reality of hospitals in rural areas of India where medicines do not reach on time. But the makers have very cleverly softened its bitterness and have brought out a human and a bit funny face of that corrupt officer.
In terms of direction, Lalitam Tiwari has not allowed the mood of the show to be disturbed. Issues like gender politics and women’s problems have been touched upon very lightly in the show, but the makers very cleverly maintained a distance from heavy and sensitive issues like caste and religion, because if they had entered into these, the light and chilling mood of the show would have been completely destroyed.
acting
In terms of acting, this season has come out better than ever. The makers have tried to resolve almost all the complaints of the last season here. Amol Parashar has played the character of Doctor Prabhat with great enthusiasm. Even though other actors are also present with him on the screen, it is Prabhat (Amol’s character) who refuses to give up in every difficult situation and pulls the entire series forward on his own. Akanksha Ranjan has also done wonders as Dr. Gargi. His solid screen presence impresses.
Seeing actor Vinay Pathak on screen is a great experience as always. He plays the role of a doctor who is trying to save his practice and also wants to send his daughter to a real medical college to get a doctor’s degree so that she can feel proud. Anandeshwar Dwivedi in the role of Compounder Futani, Akash Makhija as Wardboy and Karthikeya Raj in the role of Cleaner have added charm to the show with their amazing comic timing.
To see or not to see?
Although a good effort has been made in the entire series to attack superstitions and evil practices, but at one place the makers themselves made a mistake. A widow woman living alone in the society, whom people fear by calling her a ‘witch’, has been shown on screen with very dirty, disheveled hair and ragged look. When you are talking about change in society, it was not at all necessary to give the character the same old, scary and worn-out look.
As mentioned earlier, the scenes of talking nonsense while sitting on a wheelchair and forced cameos of the characters from the ‘Panchayat’ series slow down the flow of the series a bit, due to which it seems that there was a lack of content to complete the 5 episodes.
But if these minor shortcomings are ignored, ‘Gram Chikitsalaya 2’ is a very sweet and heart-touching series. The real soul of this show is its two emotional tracks which are woven around two women – one of which is a strong slap on the superstitions spread in the society (like smelling shoes) regarding diseases like epilepsy, and on the other hand, the loneliness and pain of a widow woman is shown. Overall, this show can be a great choice for your weekend.
