Protests are continuing at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar under the leadership of ‘Cockroach Janata Party’ (CJP). CJP workers were planning to march to the Parliament on Monday demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan in the paper leak case. But they were not allowed to proceed beyond Jantar Mantar. Many political parties are also coming together in their support. Samajwadi Party marched from Parliament to Jantar Mantar to support him.
Samajwadi Party (SP) MP Dimple Yadav along with other MPs of her party took out a march from Parliament to Jantar Mantar. During this, he said, “The situation in the country is such that the youth want to express their views, but the government is neither ready to listen nor to talk. Students have repeatedly said this and Sonam Wangchuk also appealed to the government to start talks.”
Government is very insensitive: Dimple
He further said, “But the government is so stubborn and insensitive that it is not ready to listen to anyone else. I have said it earlier also, we stand with the students and we are going to march till Jantar Mantar. I believe that the entire process is corrupt and the youth and students of the country are bearing the brunt of it and are going through immense mental stress.”
At the same time, students want the government to listen to them, but the government does not want to listen to them. Children should be listened to.” Apart from Samajwadi Party, MP Chandrashekhar Azad also reached Jantar Mantar and extended his support to the movement.
A matter of responsibility on moral grounds: Hasan
While going to Jantar Mantar, another young Samajwadi Party MP, Iqra Hasan, said, “We demand resignation. The government should take responsibility on moral grounds. This is a matter of moral responsibility and we stand with the youth of the country. Dharmendra Pradhan should resign.”
Zia-ur-Rehman Burke, another Samajwadi Party MP from Uttar Pradesh, said, “Today there was lathi charge on the youth and students who are considered to be the future of the country. A delegation of Samajwadi Party MPs is going to meet them and we fully support their movement. We have raised their issue loudly. Sonam Wangchuk was forcefully removed and taken to the hospital. We want the government to talk to the students and fulfill their legitimate demands.”
Mild lathicharge during demonstration
Earlier this morning, when the protesters along with CJP started marching from Jantar Mantar to Parliament, they were not allowed to go. Eyewitnesses say that on Monday, Delhi Police used batons to disperse hundreds of students and youth activists marching from Mandi House metro station towards Jantar Mantar. These people were trying to reach the protest site of ‘Cockroach Janata Party’ (CJP).
Moving towards Jantar Mantar, the protesters (which included a large number of women) raised slogans against the central government. Heavy deployment of Delhi Police personnel was seen in the area as police tried to stop the march from moving forward.
