
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Sunday visited the site of the building collapse incident near Saket Metro Station in South Delhi and took stock of the relief and rescue operations. He took complete information about the incident from the officers present on the spot and reviewed the ongoing rescue operation. He instructed the officials that there should not be any laxity in the rescue operation. At the same time, two officers who were negligent in this accident have also been suspended.
The search for every potentially trapped person should be done with utmost seriousness and sensitivity. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta inquired about the health of the injured admitted in various hospitals and directed the officials to provide free and better medical facilities to all the injured. The Chief Minister received information about the relief and rescue operations being carried out jointly by the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), Delhi Fire Service, Delhi Police, District Administration, Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Civil Defense and other agencies.

After this he met the affected families and consoled them. The Chief Minister said that this incident is very sad and heartbreaking. He assured that in this difficult time, the Delhi government completely stands with the affected families and all possible financial and administrative assistance will be provided to the victims.
Negligence will not be tolerated
The Chief Minister made it clear that the safety of citizens is the top priority of the Delhi Government and negligence will not be tolerated at any level. Taking immediate action on the instructions of the Chief Minister, a criminal case has been registered at Mehrauli police station. Also, a magisterial inquiry has been ordered under the leadership of the District Magistrate of South District to determine the real causes of the accident and accountability. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said that the safety of citizens is the top priority and any kind of negligence will not be tolerated.
Action on finding administrative negligence
He directed the concerned departments to conduct a detailed investigation into the cause of the building collapse and if construction irregularities, neglect of safety standards or any kind of administrative negligence is found, then strict action should be ensured against the responsible persons. After this, two officers who were negligent in this accident were also suspended. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta directed the officials to immediately survey and inspect the dilapidated, dangerous and illegal buildings in Saidulajab and surrounding areas.
Strict action will be taken if deficiencies are found in buildings
He said that strict action should be taken as per the rules against buildings which pose a threat to people’s safety so that such incidents can be prevented in future. While warning the officers of the concerned departments, the Chief Minister said that accountability will be fixed against those officers who patronize illegal constructions or are negligent in discharging their responsibilities. If found guilty, strict action will also be taken against them.

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said that the Delhi government is constantly monitoring the situation and all concerned agencies are working in mutual coordination. Every aspect related to relief, rescue and rehabilitation will be worked on seriously so that the affected people can get relief as soon as possible.

He said that the government will ensure that all the facts related to the incident are impartially investigated and necessary steps are taken to prevent such incidents in future. Appreciating the efforts of all the agencies, officers, employees and volunteers engaged in relief and rescue operations, the Chief Minister said that in this time of crisis, the coordinated efforts of all the organizations are very important to save human life.
