
After the intervention of Haryana CM Nayab Saini, the ongoing dispute between Punjab and Uttarakhand regarding the issue of Nihang Sikhs after the incidents of Karnaprayag and Rudraprayag during Hemkunt Sahib Yatra has been resolved for the time being. In fact, representatives of some Nihang Sikh organizations had met Haryana CM Nayab Saini regarding this issue, after which CM Nayab Saini spoke to Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami on phone and sent his political advisor Tarun Bhandari to Uttarakhand with the responsibility of resolving the entire matter through talks.
It is being told that after this the dispute has been resolved and the four Nihangs He was arrested in connection with the assault case in Uttarakhand and may soon be released on bail.
Members of the Nihang sect, many of whom are from Punjab and Haryana, are staying at the Paonta Sahib Gurdwara in Himachal Pradesh’s Sirmaur district. He had earlier postponed his scheduled march to Uttarakhand by two days.
Solution arrived after several hours of discussion
Police stopped the group at the Himachal-Uttarakhand border, after which the protest march was stopped. After the talks, the Uttarakhand administration assured them that their demands, including the release of the arrested Nihangs, would be addressed.
More Nihang members from Punjab and Haryana reached Paonta Sahib on Saturday to attend the meeting. After meeting a delegation of Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (HSGPC), Chief Minister Saini sent his Political Secretary, Tarun Bhandari to Paonta Sahib. Bhandari met Sikh religious groups and informed about the government’s efforts to resolve the matter peacefully.
Speaking to reporters after several hours of talks, Bhandari said the Haryana Chief Minister has assured the Sikh community that every effort is being made to resolve the matter quickly and peacefully.
Saini talked to CM Dhami
He said that a delegation of HSGPC met Saini, who also spoke to Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on phone. Saini appealed to them to resolve this dispute quickly and peacefully.
Bhandari said that after this he was asked to go to Paonta Sahib with the HSGPC delegation and tell the Sikh community about the steps being taken by both the governments.
Calling it a small controversy, Bhandari said such incidents happen occasionally but they become bigger when people try to give them a political colour. He stressed that such matters should not be politicized. This fight started on June 16 in Karnaprayag of Chamoli district of Uttarakhand. A small argument between local people and Nihang Sikhs had reportedly turned violent. The police later registered a case and arrested four Nihang Sikhs.
