Pakistan vs Australia ODI Series: Australia team is on tour of Pakistan. During this period, a 3-match ODI series will be played between the two teams, which will start from May 30. But the Australian cricket team has suffered a big setback before the Pakistan tour. Stand-in captain Mitchell Marsh has been ruled out of the entire ODI series due to an ankle injury. After Pakistan, the Australian team also has to go to Bangladesh. However, Mitchell Marsh’s availability for the Bangladesh tour is also not clear.
Australia team gets new captain
The team’s full time captain Pat Cummins is not a part of this period due to IPL playoffs. At the same time, Travis Head is also in India. In such a situation, Mitchell Marsh was chosen as the stand-in captain, who is also the captain of the T20 team. But now Australia has to choose a new captain. The command of the Australian team against Pakistan will be in the hands of star wicketkeeper batsman Josh Inglis. Josh Inglis was a part of the Lucknow team in IPL 2026, which is out of the race for the playoffs.
Josh Inglis was bought by Lucknow Super Giants in the auction by spending Rs 8.6 crore. But he could play only 5 matches in the entire season. In fact, English had informed the franchise before the IPL auction about his limited availability due to his marriage. Josh Inglis was married on 18 April in Margaret River, Western Australia and joined the team after the end of half the season. In these 5 matches, he scored 266 runs at an average of 53.20, which included 3 half-centuries.
Mitchell Marsh got injured during IPL
Mitchell Marsh performed brilliantly for Lucknow Super Giants in IPL 2026. But he returned home before the team’s last league match. Marsh went back to Australia after the match against Rajasthan Royals on 19 May. Now his injury has been confirmed, due to which he has been away from cricket for a long time before. On the other hand, Josh Inglis has previous experience of captaincy against Pakistan. In November 2024, he led Australia in one ODI and three T20I matches.
