Now a new security feature has arrived for those using Android Smartphones which will detect fake calls and alert you even before picking up the call. Google says that this feature will help in preventing problems related to AI voice cloning scam, call spoofing attacks. Google’s fake call detection feature has started rolling out for Android users worldwide, this feature will be available in the Phone By Google app. This new security feature will act as an extra layer of security.
Fake Call Detection will be available in these Android phones
In a blog post, Google said that it has started rolling out the new fake call detection worldwide for devices running Android 12 and all new versions after that. Google said that Phone by Google Fake call detection is on by default in the app. It can automatically detect fake calls. This feature also uses Rich Communication Services (RCS) for end-to-end encryption, ensuring users’ privacy and security.
If a user’s Android phone detects a fake call, the receiver’s handset will ping the caller’s phone for verification. If the user on the other end confirms, I am not calling now, then the Phone by Google app will ping the receiver’s phone with a warning. Will advise them to immediately disconnect the call so that users can be saved from becoming victims of fake calls and spoofing attacks.
Citing Interpol’s March 2026 Global Financial Fraud Threat Assessment, Google said that fraud is one of the main reasons for losses of more than $ 400 billion (approximately Rs 38,28,300 crore) worldwide.
