Security flaws found in Google Chrome
CERT-In, the cyber security agency working under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology of the Government of India, has said in its new advisory that many dangerous security vulnerabilities have been found in the desktop version of Google Chrome. This problem can affect Windows, Mac and Linux systems. According to the agency, by taking advantage of these flaws, any remote attacker can run arbitrary code in the system, bypass security restrictions and steal sensitive information. Not only this, it can also lead to a situation like device crash or denial of service. Considering it a serious threat, the government has asked for immediate update.
Users of older versions are at greater risk
According to the report, Google Chrome versions older than 148.0.7778.178 on Linux and versions older than 148.0.7778.178 or 179 on Windows and Mac are said to be affected. According to researchers, these vulnerabilities are present in WebRTC, GPU, Quick, XR and other browser components. Hackers can attack a user by making them open a dangerous website or click on a fake link. As soon as the user opens that link, the attacker can insert malware into the system or steal data. This is the reason why cyber agencies constantly advise users to keep their browsers updated.
Update Google Chrome immediately
CERT-In has clearly said that everyone from individual users to big companies can fall prey to this threat. The good thing is that Google has released a new security update to fix these vulnerabilities. Users have been advised to update their Google Chrome immediately. For this, open the browser and go to Settings and then open the About Chrome section. There the browser will automatically check for new updates and install the latest version. After the update is complete, it will be necessary to restart the browser. Cyber experts say that regular updates are the easiest and strongest way of online security.
