‘Give proof or apologize’…BJP’s ultimatum on Omar Abdullah’s allegations of horse-trading of NC MLAs.

July 11, 2026 by Uma Shankar

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah had accused BJP of trying to buy National Conference MLAs, to which BJP has now given a strong reaction. Jammu and Kashmir BJP president and Rajya Sabha MP Sat Sharma demanded the Chief Minister to present evidence in support of his allegations and said that if he fails to do so, he should apologize publicly or else he will have to face the law.

Sat Sharma said that Omar Abdullah is holding the highest constitutional post of Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir and it is extremely irresponsible to make such serious allegations against the country’s largest political party. He said that the Chief Minister is making such statements to divert people’s attention from his government’s failures and inability to fulfill its election promises.

‘No need to contact NC MLAs’

BJP state president said that there is no need to contact National Conference MLAs. He raised the question that when some MLAs of his party did not even attend the Deputy Chief Minister’s program, then what is the need for BJP to break them.

Demand to make names of MLAs public

Sat Sharma also demanded the Chief Minister to make public the names of the MLAs whom he claimed were given bribes of Rs 20 to 30 crore. He said that merely making allegations will not suffice, but the Chief Minister will also have to provide concrete evidence of his claims. He clarified that BJP is taking this matter seriously and the party has decided to initiate legal action. He told that talks have been held with his party’s legal team in this regard and a meeting of the legal team will also be held during the day, after which further strategy will be decided.

‘Omar Abdullah has only two options’

Sat Sharma said that Chief Minister Omar Abdullah now has only two options, either to present evidence in support of his allegations or to apologize publicly. If this is not done then BJP will take legal action against him.
