
Remedies for Ganga Dussehra: Ganga water has great importance in Sanatan Dharma. Ganga has the status of mother. The sins of many births are washed away by merely taking a bath in the river Ganga. There is a tradition of immersing the ashes in the Ganga after death. It is said that by doing this the soul of the deceased attains salvation. That is why Ganga has been called the river of salvation. Every year the festival of Ganga Dussehra is celebrated on the tenth day of Shukla Paksha of Jyeshtha month.
According to mythological beliefs, on the Dashami of Jyeshtha Shukla Paksha, Mother Ganga came to earth from heaven. This is why bathing in Ganga and donating on Ganga Dussehra has special significance. This year Ganga Dussehra will be celebrated on 25th May. On this day, along with bathing in Ganga and making donations, some special measures are also taken with Ganga water. It is believed that these measures provide relief from the evil effects of Saturn’s Sadesati, Dhaiya, and Rahu-Ketu.
Remedies for Rahu-Ketu defect on Ganga Dussehra
On the day of Ganga Dussehra, according to your devotion, take Ganga water in a copper or silver pot and offer it on Shivalinga while chanting the mantra “Om Namah Shivay”. By doing this the defects of Rahu and Ketu are removed. If you are not able to take a dip in the river Ganga on this day, then add Ganga water to the water at home and take a bath. This removes the mental confusion caused by Rahu. Sprinkle Ganga water all over the house on this day. This removes negativity.
Remedies for Shani Dosh
On the day of Ganga Dussehra, wake up early in the morning, take Ganga water in a pot, mix some black sesame seeds and raw milk in it and offer it to the root of the Peepal tree. It is believed that this provides relief from the bad effects of Saturn’s Sadesati and Dhaiya. On this day, mix a few drops of mustard oil in Ganges water and offer it to the idol of Shani Dev in the Shani temple. This provides relief from Saturn related troubles.
