G7 Summit: Prime Minister Modi stressed on global solidarity and new partnerships

June 16, 2026 by Uma Shankar

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday addressed the outreach session of the G7 summit held in Evian, France on the topic of building new partnerships and rebuilding international solidarity. In his address, he said that in today’s interconnected world, energy, food, health, cyber and economic security are deeply interconnected, hence strong international partnerships are essential for the progress and prosperity of humanity.

The Prime Minister said that in the current uncertain global environment, trade and technology are being misused for narrow interests, which has created a crisis of trust between countries. Citing the lessons learned from the COVID-19 pandemic, he called on countries to prioritize trust and transparency in global partnerships.

Sharing India’s vision of international cooperation, Prime Minister Modi said that India has always followed the principle of humanity first. He told that this thinking has been at the center of campaigns like International Solar Alliance, Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure, Global Biofuel Alliance, Mission LiFE and Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam.

India gave the mantra of welfare of all, happiness of all

He said that due to this inclusive approach, India has been the first to come forward to help various countries of the world during natural disasters. Giving examples, the Prime Minister said that India provided assistance during the cyclone in Sri Lanka, earthquake in Afghanistan, flood in Mozambique and hurricane in Jamaica. Highlighting India’s inclusive and sustainable development model, Prime Minister Modi said that the mantra of Sarvajan Hitaya, Sarvajan Sukhay has played an important role in promoting financial inclusion, health security, digital identity, technology-based empowerment and women-led development.

Lack of respect for international laws hinders solidarity

He said that international partnerships should move beyond the traditional thinking of donor-recipient and be developed on the basis of equal participation and solidarity. The Prime Minister also said that lack of respect for international laws is the biggest obstacle to building global solidarity and it should be removed on priority basis. At the end of his address, Prime Minister Modi stressed that to ensure peace and stability in the world, international partnerships have to give top priority to dialogue and diplomacy.
