PM Modi raised the issue of death of Indian sailors
In the joint press conference with Trump, PM Modi also raised the issue of deaths of Indian sailors. The Prime Minister said that there are many Indian sailors in the sea and everyone’s safety is important. Earlier, while addressing the G-7 conference, PM Modi had raised the issue of death of Indian sailors. US President Donald Trump was also present in the meeting where this issue was raised. Prime Minister Narendra Modi raised the issue of the death of three Indians killed in the Gulf of Oman in the presence of Trump.
PM Modi said that we welcome the progress made in peace efforts in West Asia. In this conflict, our friendly countries in West Asia have suffered loss of life and property. The entire world has suffered economic losses due to the closure of the Strait of Hormuz. Many citizens of India have lost their lives. It is our responsibility to protect the sailors who connect all the countries through global maritime trade. We have to ensure that sea lanes remain safe and seafarers can do their work without fear.
Three Indian ships were attacked
Just last week, three Indian ships were attacked in the Gulf of Oman within three days. The first attack was on MT Marivex in which 24 Indian crew members were rescued by Oman. The second attack was carried out by America on MT Settebello in which three Indian sailors lost their lives and the third attack was on MT Jalveer. Regarding these incidents, Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar had also expressed objection to US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and now in the G-7 conference, PM Modi, while referring to these attacks, said that it is the responsibility of all of us to ensure the safety of sailors.
Three sailors died
Let us tell you that the bodies of two of the three Indian sailors who died in the American attack on MT Settebello in the Gulf of Oman have been brought home. A day before this, two Indian sailors rescued from MT Settebello were brought home. The Indian Embassy in Muscat gave this information but did not give any information regarding the third Indian sailor killed in the attack.
