Pakistan’s anti-cyber-crime agency has issued summons to former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s sister Nooreen Niazi. The agency alleges that Niazi spread false, defamatory and inflammatory things on social media to tarnish the image of government institutions and spread lies. It is being told that this summons was issued after a clip of an interview of Niazi went viral on social media.
According to PTI, this summon came after an interview of Niazi went viral on social media, in which he had claimed that the military clash between India and Pakistan in May 2025 was the result of collusion between Pakistan’s military leadership i.e. Field Marshal Asim Munir and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and it was planned to improve the image of the army. Regarding this interview, the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency issued summons on Saturday and directed Niazi to appear at its office in Islamabad on Monday.
Accused of tarnishing the image of the country
The summons said, ‘Nooreen Niazi is accused of spreading false, defamatory and inflammatory things on social media to tarnish the image of the country and the army and to spread lies.’ In the interview, Niazi tried to downplay the Pakistani Army’s retaliation against India after the Pahalgam terror attack last year.
He claimed without any evidence that India did not escalate the conflict because Pakistan was moving towards recognizing Israel. The purpose of this incident was to pave the way for Islamabad to join the ‘Abraham Accords’.
What is the Abraham Accords?
Pakistan is among those countries which do not recognize Israel as a country and do not maintain any diplomatic relations with it. The ‘Abraham Accords’ are a series of US-brokered agreements that established diplomatic, economic and security relations between Israel and several Arab countries (such as the UAE, Bahrain, Sudan and Morocco).
Ajma Bukhari’s counter attack on Niazi
Niazi said in the interview, what do you think? Is India a big country which was in no position to retaliate against Pakistan when it attacked on May 10? He said, it could have retaliated, but due to a certain understanding, India deliberately refrained from giving a strong response. Punjab Information and Culture Minister Ajma Bukhari reacted strongly to these statements of Niazi.
Accusations made against Khan family
Bukhari is associated with Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N). Bukhari said on Saturday, “Noreen Niazi’s statement reflects the thinking of her brother Imran Khan. Khan’s family has always been uncomfortable with Pakistan’s successes, and the comments made against the national interest are extremely regrettable.” He further said that Niazi’s comments in support of PM Modi deserve strong condemnation.
