June 28, 2026 by Uma Shankar

Assembly elections are to be held in Punjab next year (2027), for which all political parties have already started preparations. The state’s Aam Aadmi Party is once again trying to capture power in the state. On Sunday (June 28), Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and Aam Aadmi Party’s national convenor Arvind Kejriwal held a press conference in Amritsar. During this, both the leaders talked about various issues and also made an important announcement.

Arvind Kejriwal said that he announced the construction of a grand temple in the name of Luv Kush and Mata Janaki in Amritsar. He said that there are people of every religion here and there are institutions and holy places of every religion here. He said that there is Darbar Sahib here where people from all over the world come to pay obeisance. He said that Lord Valmiki had written Ramayana here. Mother Sita lived here in Valmiki Ashram. Luv Kush was also born here and Luv Kush was educated here. He said that when Lord Ram left his horse for Ashwamedha Yagya, no one in the whole world could stop him but Luv Kush had stopped that horse of Ashwamedha Yagya on this earth.

Temple of Luv Kush and Mata Janaki will be built in Amritsar

He said that the land of Amritsar is a very sacred land, there are pilgrimage sites associated with Hinduism, Sikhism and Valmiki Samaj. It is here that along with Lord Valmiki Dham, temples of Luv Kush and Mata Janaki will be built. He said that work on this project will start soon and as the work on it progresses, the public will be informed about it.

Questions raised on investigation of Ram temple

During this, the AAP leader also talked about the alleged theft in Ram temple. He said that the people who have been arrested are small people. He said that those who count the money, those who keep track of the money have been arrested, but the big people involved in this are roaming free. He said that the big thing is that those who were arrested were not interrogated. No police remand was taken. He was not asked from where the money was stolen, where it was delivered, with whom it was kept.

Kejriwal said that no police remand was taken of the arrested people and they were directly sent to judicial custody. He said that this clearly shows that this is an attempt to hide everything. He said that efforts are being made to suppress the entire matter by arresting some people. He said that theft has taken place here on a very large scale. He said that cash worth Rs 200 crore was stolen while only Rs 80 lakh was recovered. He questioned where the rest of the money went. He said that the remaining money should also be investigated.

Ministers and MLAs will appear before Akal Takht

During this, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann said that our speaker, all the MLAs and ministers have been called tomorrow on behalf of Shri Akal Takht Sahib. He said that all our MLAs will go there and whatever suggestions are put before us by Shri Akal Takht Sahib, we will definitely implement them. He also told that he was not called before Sri Akal Takht Sahib.

CM Mann will present his side

CM said that the video which was made of him wearing a mask, we will send that video and a letter to Shri Akal Takht Sahib and tell him that such videos can be made through the mask. He said that he will present his written side before Sri Akal Takht Sahib.

accused the opposition

On his posters being put up outside the Gurudwaras, he said that my posters are being put up outside the Gurudwaras that it is necessary to convey to the public the order given by Shri Akal Takht Sahib regarding me. He asked why such boards were not put up when Sukhbir Badal was declared Tankhaiya. He said that it seems that Shiromani Akali Dal, BJP and Congress want to take political advantage by giving political color to this entire matter, this should not have happened.

‘Politics and religion should be kept separate’

On the ongoing controversy regarding Nanded Sahib Trust in Maharashtra, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann said that whatever the Maharashtra government is doing in Nanded Sahib, BJP is doing politics. He said that BJP is trying to politicize religious places. He said that like the trust that exists in the Kali Mata temple in Patiala, Punjab, the DC is its president and the trust is under him. He said that the people in the trust are not political people, they are working for Kali Mata Temple. He said that religious people should be engaged in religious work. Politics and religion should be kept separate.
