Allegations of alleged irregularities related to donation boxes and offerings in Ayodhya Shri Ram Janmabhoomi temple have remained the center of discussion in the country for the past several days. Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust had requested the state government to form a SIT to investigate the matter. Considering the seriousness of the case, the Uttar Pradesh government has included three experienced officers of administration, police and financial management in the Special Investigation Team (SIT) formed. Along with getting to the bottom of the allegations, this team will also comprehensively review the offerings and donation management system in the temple.
SIT The command of Lucknow Division will be in the hands of Divisional Commissioner Vijay Vishwas Pant. Along with him, Lucknow Range IG Kiran S and Special Secretary of Finance Department Neelratan Kumar will be involved in the investigation as members. If we look at the different areas of work of the officers, this team appears to cover all important aspects of administrative, financial and criminal investigation.
Vijay Vishwas Pant will take charge of administrative leadership
2004 batch IAS officer Vijay Vishwas Pant is currently Lucknow Divisional Commissioner. Pant, who has studied engineering from IIT Kanpur, has extensive experience in running big events and complex administrative systems. While being Prayagraj Divisional Commissioner, he played an important role in the preparations and management of Mahakumbh-2025.
If sources are to be believed, his responsibility as SIT chief will not be limited to only investigating the allegations, but will also have to study the existing system of offerings and donations in the temple and give suggestions to make it more transparent and accountable.
Kiran S will investigate the crime
Kiran S, a 2008 batch IPS officer and currently IG of Lucknow Range, will handle the police and criminal side of the investigation in the SIT. His biggest specialty is his long experience of almost nine years in the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), where he worked up to the level of DIG.
Given his expertise in cyber crime, financial irregularities, forensic investigation and investigation of complex criminal cases, he is expected to lead the technical and criminal investigation into allegations related to alleged offering theft or misuse of funds. Kiran S has been honored at Interpol level.
Neelratan Kumar will look after financial audit and accounts
The third member of the SIT, Neelratan Kumar, is a senior officer of Uttar Pradesh Finance and Accounts Service and is currently posted as Special Secretary in the Finance Department. With close to four decades of administrative experience, Neelratan is considered an expert in government financial management, audit, budget and audit processes.
His role will be to examine the donations, offerings, accounts, accounting records and financial processes of the temple. If any financial irregularity or procedural flaw comes to light, their experience can prove valuable in identifying and analyzing it.
On one hand, IAS officers will review the administrative system, on the other hand, former CBI officers will investigate the criminal aspects and finance experts will examine the financial and accounting of the money. The three members will submit the report to the state government after investigation.
