July 11, 2026 by Uma Shankar

Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah on Saturday inaugurated the digital and state-of-the-art Loknayak Jaiprakash Narayan Public Library. Addressing the program, Amit Shah said that the future of a country is not decided by agriculture, market or industry but by the youth gathering in its libraries. All the activities which take the nation forward, build the nation and bring glory to the nation have their origin in knowledge and wisdom. Only a library can give this knowledge.

Amit Shah appealed to the young generation to join the library at least once. As soon as reading becomes a habit, the discrimination between good and bad will automatically awaken. Sharing his experience, the Home Minister said that the small town where he was born and spent his childhood had a rich library. There was a big change in his life due to joining that library. While reading books like Aladdin and the Magic Lamp, Alibaba and the Forty Thieves, The Journey of Sindbad, he did not realize when his study journey reached the Vedas and Upanishads.

Library has a huge contribution in life

The Home Minister said that today he saw a sentence written in the auditorium that one should think before speaking, because words never come back. One should think before speaking any sentence. Before thinking, one should read what to think and this culture can be acquired only from the library. Library has a huge contribution in his life. Have conducted a small experiment in my parliamentary constituency.

A library in almost every village of the parliamentary constituency

He said, a library has been opened in almost every village of his parliamentary constituency, which has about 3-4 thousand books. These libraries are linked to the main library, which has 1.25 lakh books. Apart from this, four mobile vans have also been deployed. The children of the villages write the name of the book of their choice in the library and request to get it. Every Friday, a book of their choice is made available to the children in the village itself.

The library will become a new center of knowledge and thinking for the youth.

The Home Minister said that this library dedicated in the name of Loknayak Jayaprakash Narayan will become a new center of knowledge and contemplation for the youth. He urged the Delhi government to link all the libraries of Delhi. Make a concrete plan to connect schools with them. There should be an effort to connect book lovers with libraries by making an action plan.

Contact all the schools and connect the youth with the library.

He also urged the employees of Jaiprakash Narayan Public Library to contact all the schools of 10 assembly constituencies around Delhi and connect the youth with the library. Inspire them to come here. Once the youth develop the habit of reading, they will move forward on their own.
