Ritu Tawde’s allegation
Ritu Tawde alleged that in her absence, opposition leader Kishori Pednekar reached her office premises. She said that even if Pednekar says that she did not go to his private cabin, his office premises extend till the main entrance, where important papers and documents are processed.
Claiming to have CCTV footage
The Mayor claimed that it can be seen in the CCTV footage that the person present with Kishori Pednekar was recording by moving the camera around the entire office. He raised the question that if only one letter had to be examined then what was the need for video recording of the four corners of the entire office.
‘No opposition leader did this’
He said that in the history of Mumbai Municipal Corporation, no opposition leader had behaved like this. He said that he does not know which documents were photographed, but it is a serious matter. Demanding a detailed investigation into this entire episode, he announced to lodge a complaint at Azad Maidan police station.
What was said on Sakinaka manhole accident
Speaking on the Sakinaka manhole accident, Mayor Ritu Tawde said that work was going on there for the last two months, but the work of installing the safety grill was started in the middle of monsoon which was not appropriate. He said that the manhole in question had a cover on it. It was temporarily removed to install a security grill. It was reported in the media that the manhole had been left open, whereas according to them this was not the case.
The Mayor said that now all the manholes across Mumbai are being audited. Giving an example, he said that there are a total of 672 manholes in Ward 132 and all are being checked whether they have covers or not. He told that all the corporators are doing similar inspection in their respective wards and the entire administrative staff is busy in checking manholes on the streets.
