Mohanlal’s ‘Drishyam 3’ is dominating the theaters these days and Ajay Devgan’s ‘Drishyam 3’ is also going to be released soon. While Ajay Devgan has earned a lot from Mohanlal’s films, there is one film of Ajay Devgan which even Mohanlal could not save. Although Mohanlal has done cameos in many Bollywood films, but his special appearance in Ajay Devgan’s film ‘Tej’ also could not be a hit and this movie failed at the box office within 15 days.
14 years ago, Ajay Devgan had brought the film ‘Tej’, which was a remake of a Japanese film. Many big stars were seen in this film, despite this the film flopped badly. A good amount of money was spent in making it, but this movie could not even recover its budget. People liked the story of the film so much that even Mohanlal’s powerful cameo was rejected by the audience. Even Mohanlal’s name could not handle Ajay Devgan’s ‘Tej’.
Ajay Devgan’s flop ‘Tej’
Ajay Devgan brought the film ‘Tej’ on 26 April 2012, which was directed by Priyadarshan. Artists like Ajay Devgan, Anil Kapoor, Kangana Ranaut, Zayed Khan, Boman Irani and Sameera Reddy were present in this film. Not only this, Mohanlal also had a special cameo in this film. The star cast of this film was almost perfect, with a little thrill and some good songs. Priyadarshan had prepared all these under his supervision. But ‘Tej’ proved to be a big flop in Ajay Devgan’s career. It was such a big flop that the film was released from the theaters as quickly as it came to the theatres.
Tej made in the budget of Rs 52 crore
Ajay Devgan’s action-thriller ‘Tej’ was a disaster at the box office. This film could run in theaters only for 2 to 3 weeks (about 15 to 21 days). The story of this film could not impress people much. ‘Tej’ was made with a budget of Rs 52 crore. But it collected only Rs 26.14 crore worldwide. This film could not even recover its production and marketing expenses. Ajay Devgan’s ‘Tej’ was an unofficial remake of the famous 1975 Japanese action-thriller film ‘The Bullet Train’. It has got a 4.1 rating on IMDb and you can watch it on Amazon Prime Video.
