
Qatar and Pakistan have issued a joint statement saying that the first round of high-level talks between America and Iran in Bergenstock, Switzerland has been completed. Representatives of America, Iran, Qatar and Pakistan participated in it. According to the joint statement, the Lake Lucerne Summit took place in a positive atmosphere. Initial progress was made on several issues in the meeting and it was agreed to prepare a mechanism for further technical talks.
It has been decided to form a high level committee in the meeting. This committee will monitor the entire negotiation process and decide the direction at the political level. The chief negotiators of America and Iran will regularly inform this committee about the progress of the talks. The high level committee has also prepared a roadmap to reach a final agreement within 60 days. On this basis, further technical talks will start immediately.
Different working groups will also be formed
These groups will work on issues like Iran’s nuclear program, economic sanctions, surveillance system and resolution of disputes. Their objective will be to implement the MoU properly and reach the final agreement. Both sides have also agreed to create a direct communication system to avoid any kind of misunderstanding or conflict in the Strait of Hormuz. So that commercial ships passing through this important sea route can move safely.
De-conflict cell will be formed regarding Lebanon
A de-confliction cell will also be formed to enforce the ceasefire and stop military activities in Lebanon. It will include representatives of America, Iran, Lebanon and mediator countries. The statement said that technical level talks will continue throughout the week in Bergenstock. Qatar and Pakistan expressed confidence that the talks will proceed in a positive atmosphere and the way will be paved to reach a final agreement within 60 days.
