The Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) on Saturday ended its ongoing protest at Jantar Mantar over the paper leak issue after reaching an agreement with the central government. CJP spokesperson Saurav Das alleged that despite the Modi government’s promise of not taking police action against the protesters, the police is harassing the youth participating in the protest. It’s like betrayal. Meanwhile, Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra said that FIRs are still being registered and these people will not desist from their habit.
Saurav Das has demanded from the Central Government that all the detained or arrested people should be released immediately, and in any case by tomorrow (Tuesday), and the FIRs against everyone should be withdrawn immediately. If this does not happen, we will take further necessary steps.
Can’t girls protest: Priyanka Gandhi
Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra also said about the FIRs being lodged against the students involved in the movement, “Use of AK-47, pellet guns against the protesters! Are they terrorists? This has gone too far, they have again lodged FIRs against the students in Bihar and Bengal. They will not desist from their habits. I have heard though it is not confirmed.”
Regarding the girls’ protest, he said, “Many girls are getting calls from their parents that these people are threatening them that your girls had gone to protest. Can’t girls protest in our country?”
Congress MP Deepender Hooda also said, “Delhi Police conducted a barbaric lathi charge which also had nails attached to it. Pellet guns were used against the students and in Bihar, AK-47 was used on the students. Who is giving this order? Prime Minister Modi will have to answer. Prime Minister Modi will have to clarify this entire situation in front of the country.”
Cruel action continues on students in other states: Saurav Das
Earlier, Saurav Das posted on social media platform We are very concerned about this.
The ‘Cockroach Janata Party’ had called off its nationwide protest only after the central government had assured us that no punitive action would be taken against any protestor, whether in a BJP or NDA ruled state, now or in the future. Therefore, the news coming from these states is very worrying.
Both Union Ministers should immediately honor the trust: Das
Firstly, we want to assure every protestor that our legal team is working with the best lawyers of the respective states to ensure the release of those detained and to provide all possible legal assistance. This work has been happening since day one.
Secondly, we appeal to the Government of India, especially Union Minister JP Nadda and Dr. Jitendra Singh, to immediately honor the trust given to us. They should ensure the release of those detained and direct that no coercive or retaliatory action should be taken against any protestor anywhere in the country. The FIR lodged should also be withdrawn.
He also said that the Central Government is also reminded that it had promised to give us a written guarantee in this matter by tomorrow Tuesday (July 28). Our decision to stop the nationwide protests was taken in good faith and with complete confidence in the government that it would stick to its word. To withdraw from that trust would not only be a betrayal of ‘CJP’, but would also break the trust of millions of young Indians who had chosen the path of dialogue instead of protests. Such betrayal will not be acceptable to the youth.
Talking about the Center fulfilling its promises, Das said, “The Indian government is reminded that its credibility is built not just by making promises, but by fulfilling the promises. To the young protesters, we say, maintain courage. We are with you.”
He said that CJP is closely monitoring the situation and hopes that the Government of India and the BJP and NDA ruled governments in the states will work with full promptness, responsibility and good intentions as per the demands of the current situation. Our demand is that all those detained or arrested should be released immediately, and in any case by tomorrow, and all FIRs should be withdrawn immediately. If this does not happen, we will take further necessary steps.
