Cases of adulteration in goods sold in the market keep coming to light every day. For this reason, even the foods that keep our health healthy can cause harm. Red chilli powder is used daily in food. Many things are mixed in it, from colors to starch, which can cause great harm to your health. In this article, we will know by which simple test you can identify adulteration in red chilli powder.

To increase weight, things like brick powder, sand, wood sawdust, bran, starch, soap powder are added to red chili powder. Apart from this, chemicals like Sudan Red and Rhodamine B are used for color in it, which can be very harmful for your health.

try water test

Take a glass and fill it with water and add one spoon of red chilli powder and leave it for some time. If after some time all the chillies settle down and the color of the water becomes very red then there is dye mixed in it. Apart from this, touch the ground chillies remaining after filtering the water. This will let you know whether things like brick powder or sand are adulterated in it.

rub it on the palm

Place a little red chilli powder on the palm and rub it, if it leaves a dark red color on the hand then the chilli is adulterated. Pure red chilli powder releases color slowly and lightly. This gives a natural color to the palm.

Take out some red chilli in a bowl or plate. Add lemon juice and a little water to it. If bubbles are forming then there may be adulteration of soap powder or washing soda in it. The color of the dye may also change due to addition of lemon.

Pure chilli powder has a strong smell and taste and is also spicy, due to adulteration, its pungency can be reduced and if sand is mixed in it, then it feels astringent under the teeth. Due to such chillies the food also becomes gritty. In this way, by doing some simple tests you can detect adulteration in red chilli at home.
