This film created history at the box office and collected Rs 132 crore worldwide. It became the second highest grossing Hindi film of the year 2001. At the same time, Aamir Khan had taken a fee of only Rs 35 lakh for his superhit film 'Lagaan'. Along with acting in this film, Aamir Khan also produced it. Since this was the first project of his own production company and the budget of the film had increased a lot. Therefore, like many artists, he also took very low fees at that time. The total budget of Aamir Khan's historical film 'Lagaan' was around 24 to 25 crores. Made under the direction of Ashutosh Gowarikar, this movie had collected Rs 66 crores worldwide.
