ayurvedic decoction
The decoction is prepared by boiling Ayurvedic herbs, spices and medicinal plants. According to Ayurveda, it is considered beneficial for improving digestion, balancing kapha and enhancing the body’s natural immunity.
Right way to make kadha
Decoction of basil, ginger and black pepper- Add 10-12 basil leaves, a small piece of crushed ginger and 3-4 crushed black peppers in two cups of water and boil until the water reduces to half. After this, filter the mixture and when it becomes slightly warm, add jaggery as per taste before drinking it.
Decoction of Giloy, turmeric and mint- Crush a small piece of Giloy stem and put it in two cups of water. Add half a spoon of turmeric and 4-5 mint leaves in it, then boil this mixture until the water remains half of its initial quantity. Finally, filter this mixture and add sugar candy or rock salt to it to taste and drink it only when it is slightly warm.
Decoction of cinnamon, clove and black pepper- Add a piece of cinnamon, 2-3 cloves, 3-4 black peppers and a few basil leaves in two cups of water and boil. When the water boils to half, filter it and drink it when it is slightly warm.
Light diet- In this season, it is best to eat light, fresh and easily digestible food. Heavy, fried and stale food can further weaken the digestive power. The risk of infection increases due to humidity in monsoon, hence one should avoid eating outside food or uncovered food. Moong dal, boiled vegetables and things made with mild spices should be included in the diet.
Yoga Asana- In this season, it is very important to exercise to keep the body active. This keeps the body active and the balance of digestion and fire is maintained. These yoga asanas are considered especially beneficial in this season:
Vajrasana
Trikonasana
Setubandhasana and
Padahastasana
Expert told precautions
Dr. Chanchal Sharma (Asha Ayurveda) says that the decoction is considered beneficial, but it should be taken only in limited quantities. Generally, taking half a cup of decoction once or twice a day is considered sufficient. If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, suffering from any chronic disease, or taking regular medication, be sure to consult a doctor or qualified Ayurvedic specialist before consuming any Ayurvedic decoction on a regular basis.
Avoid cold water, ice cream and cold things kept in the refrigerator, drink only boiled water and do not allow water to accumulate on the floor in the house, so that diseases caused by mosquitoes can be avoided. Along with this, it is also important to maintain cleanliness, because the risk of infection increases in this season. Fresh fruits and vegetables should be eaten only after washing them thoroughly.
