According to Downdetector, a website that tracks outages, within a few minutes the number of complaints related to Facebook increased rapidly. It is clear that this problem was not limited to any one country, rather users from many countries were affected by it.
Problem from logging in to sending messages
Users reported that they were not able to log in to their Facebook accounts. Many people also had trouble using the common features of the platform. Some users were unable to upload photos and videos, while many complained that there were problems in sending and receiving messages on Facebook’s messaging platform Messenger. Apart from this, the desktop version of Facebook was also not working for many users.
This error message appeared on the screen
During the problem, a message appeared on the screen of many users, in which it was written that their account is currently unavailable due to a technical problem with the website. It was also assured that the problem would be fixed soon and it was advised to try again after a few minutes.
Flood of complaints on Downdetector
According to Downdetector data, there was a sudden surge in complaints related to Facebook at around 10:39 am US time on Sunday morning. Within a few minutes the number of complaints increased from the normal level to 3,555. This number shows that a large number of users were affected by this technical glitch at the same time.
Meta did not give any official information
Till the time of writing the news, no official statement had been issued by Facebook’s parent company Meta regarding the reason for this outage. It is also not clear what caused the problem and how much time will it take to be completely cured. However, in such cases the company usually shares information that the situation will become normal after the technical glitch is resolved. At present, users are being advised to wait for some time and log in again later.
