Ahmed Khan On Raveena Tandon And Akshay Kumar Casting: Director Ahmed Khan is very happy after the tremendous success of the film ‘Welcome to the Jungle’ which made people laugh heartily in theatres. There is a tremendous flavor of comedy in this multi-starrer film. Apart from the comedy, the thing that attracted the most attention in the film is the reunion of Akshay Kumar and Raveena Tandon. After almost 22 years, these two stars are seen sharing the screen together. Very few people know that at one time these two used to date each other and later moved ahead in their respective lives. But from then till now, both of them had never worked together in any film. How did you bring these two together? On this question, director Ahmed Khan gave a very interesting answer in an exclusive conversation with TV9 Hindi Digital.
Actually in ‘Welcome to the Jungle’ Akshay Kumar And a scene of Raveena Tandon is very much discussed, where Raveena directly grabs Akshay Kumar’s collar and asks angrily, where were you for 20 years? The audience whistled a lot at this scene in the theatre. This scene was also funny because this dialogue from reel life fits perfectly on the real life timeline of both and also the long gap. Even after so many years, fans were very happy to see the on-screen chemistry of both.
Raveena Tandon is a good friend – Ahmed Khan
When we asked director Ahmed Khan that despite so many years of separation and old history, how did these two agree to work together? Then Ahmed Khan smilingly said, “It was not only my wish to see Akshay and Raveena together on screen, but it was the wish of the people of the entire country, both of them are my very old and good friends. When the casting of the film was going on, we were looking for such an outspoken and domineering female character who would make the entire village dance on her fingers. Suddenly Raveena’s name came to my mind. I talked to Akshay, then approached Raveena. Raveena, Firoz Bhai.” (The producer is a very good friend of mine), so out of friendship he immediately said yes without any hesitation.”

Ahmed Khan further said, “This is not a serious or intense film, it is just a comedy film. The advantage of comedy is that here everything is done with a laugh. Both Akshay and Raveena are amazing professionals. As soon as the camera turned on, both of them presented their old chemistry in a new comic style. Seeing the comfort level between them, no one on the set could say that these two are working together after 22 years.” This decision of Ahmed Khan has created a stir in the theaters today and the success of the film is proof of this.
