Ann Kapoor: Whenever Bollywood’s versatile and outspoken actor Annu Kapoor speaks, he speaks directly from the heart without any pretense. Annu Kapoor, who has been active in the cinema world for four decades, has seen the journey of the Hindi film industry very closely. Recently, in a special conversation with TV9 Hindi Digital in connection with the promotion of his upcoming film ‘Uttar Ka Puttar’, Annu Kapoor narrated a very interesting anecdote related to his first film with Yash Raj Films (YRF) and great director late Yash Chopra. Where he tells how one of his scenes was cut in the film.
Remembering Yash Chopra’s blockbuster film ‘Mashal’ which was released 42 years ago i.e. in 1984. Annu Kapoor Told how he got a chance to work with great actor Dilip Kumar in this film, but what happened to him on the editing table. Annu Kapoor said, “Late Yash Chopra had made a film called ‘Mashal’. A scene was shot on me in it, but it was removed in the final editing. Then finally if you see, I have no hesitation in telling you that I was standing behind Dilip Kumar. But when the shooting was done, I had a dialogue, but after everything was edited in the film, I was standing behind Dilip Kumar without any dialogue.”
The film was done for Rs 4000
Taking his point forward, Annu Kapoor took a dig at his then situation and the money he received and said, “I don’t watch films, but I was told that yes, you were standing behind Dilip Kumar. Then I said, I have not come to stand behind Dilip Kumar! Whoever he is, I have not come to stand behind him. Yes, I would have got Rs. 100 crores for standing behind Dilip Kumar, so you tell me whom I will stand behind! But Rs. 4,000.” I am also grateful for what I got. I am very grateful to Yash (Yash Chopra) ji. Annu Kapoor became emotional and further said that even though Rs 4,000 was less, he would remain grateful to him throughout his life for the help and kindness that Yash Chopra and his wife Pamela Chopra gave him in his difficult times.
‘Uttar ka Puttar’ is coming on 24th July
Annu Kapoor, who used to do side roles and struggle in the initial days, is now emerging as the ‘main protagonist’ of films. His upcoming film ‘Uttar Ka Puttar’ is a living proof of this. Actress Ruksar Rehman is going to be seen in the lead role with Annu Kapoor in this film. The story of the film is based on a strange family of North India and the socio-familial circumstances revolving around it. The film ‘Uttar Ka Puttar’ includes comedy and humor as well as a heart-touching social message. The makers of the film claim that this is a completely clean family entertainer, which the audience can enjoy in theaters with their entire family. This film starring Annu Kapoor and Ruksar Rehman is all set to be released in theaters across the country on 24th July 2026.
