
Lyricist Sameer Anjaan On His Career: Whenever there is talk of veteran lyricists of Bollywood, Sameer Anjaan’s name definitely appears in that list. He has written more than 6 thousand songs in his career. His father Lalji Pandey (Anjaan) was also a lyricist, but do you know that even though he was in the world of music, he did not want his son i.e. Sameer to be a lyricist. He also told his son to become everything, but not even try to become a lyricist. However, Sameer Anjaan was destined to rule the world of music, so he came into this field. Sameer Anjaan left his bank job and made a career in the world of music.
Sameer Anjan Recently had a special conversation with TV9 Bharatvarsha. It was during that time that he talked about his own journey of becoming a lyricist. He said, “When you become something in life, do you ever think about how you became? When you become mature, you will get an answer that the process of becoming you had started long ago. You did not even know. I wanted to become a successful lyricist. That is why I was born in a small village. The work of carrying the load of sugarcane in the fields till reaching the barn of the village, from using spades to shoveling, working in ponds and rivers. My life started by taking bath and studying in the light of lantern.”
Village, Banaras and father’s talk
Sameer Anjaan further said, “At that time, Patri Borka was spoken in the village, I started writing on it. After that I reached the city, Banaras. I did M.Com from BHU and lived the entire atmosphere of that city. There used to be a music hall there at one time. I don’t know whether it is there now or not. I went there and learned to play the banjo. I started an entertainment orchestra party there. I used to anchor there and used to do anchoring on someone’s birthday and in someone’s wedding. We used to go and do programs. And my father had said that you should not try to become a lyricist. Now I was busy in studies following his father’s orders.

Left bank job and became a lyricist
He also said, “They removed me from literature and put me in commerce, thinking that if I put me in literature, I will start writing. I completed my entire education from commerce. I did M.Com. I worked in a bank. But now comes the third character, whom we call fate, he is after me and is telling me from inside that this is not your destiny. Sameer, you get out of here. The next day I left the bank job and left. In those times, in the 80s, I had a job in a bank. Leaving was a big decision. But that day I decided to always listen to the heart. The day you start working, you cannot become what you want to become.
