EPFO’s big update! Interest will start coming in PF accounts from tomorrow, know when you will get the money

July 2, 2026 by Uma Shankar

There is good news for crores of account holders of Employees Provident Fund Organization (EPFO). EPFO is going to start the process of depositing interest in the Provident Fund (PF) accounts of employees from tomorrow. According to the information, within the next 15 days the interest amount will be transferred to about 7 crore active accounts across the country.

This will provide great relief to those employees who were waiting for interest to come in their PF account for a long time. After deposit of interest, account holders will be able to see the updated balance in their EPF passbook.

8.25% interest will be available for the financial year 2025-26

EPFO has fixed the interest rate on Employees Provident Fund deposits at 8.25 percent for the financial year 2025-26. According to this rate, interest will be calculated and deposited in all eligible accounts. This interest will be directly credited to the PF account of the account holders and there will be no need to make any application for this.

You can check your balance like this

After deposit of interest, employees can check their PF balance in many ways. Updated account balance can also be checked through passbook service available on the official website of EPFO, UMANG app and missed call or SMS service. However, the interest will not reach all accounts at once, so it may take a few days for the update to appear in some accounts.

Why is it important for employees?

EPF is considered to be the biggest means of long-term savings for employees. Every month, contribution is deposited in the PF account by both the employee and the employer, on which EPFO pays interest every year. Compounding of interest results in a substantial increase in the retirement savings of employees and provides strong financial security for the future.

If interest is not visible in your account in the next 15 days, there is no need to panic. EPFO will credit interest to all active accounts in a phased manner, so the update may take some time.
