EPFO portal goes live, but it will take two weeks for claims to be settled! But why so?

July 7, 2026 by Uma Shankar

Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has completed a major database consolidation and software upgrade to improve service delivery and experience for its members and employers. According to an official announcement, “As part of the post-migration stabilization process, claims and service requests will be processed in a phasewise and systematic manner during the initial two weeks, which will include additional verification and validation checks to ensure accuracy.

It will take time to process EPF claim

EPFO has warned that some services may take more time than usual in the initial period after migration. As part of the process of stabilizing the system, claims and service requests will be processed in a phased and systematic manner. The organization has said that it has initiated additional verification and validation checks to ensure the accuracy of records after migration.

During this period, members and employers may face delays in processing EPF claims and some online services. EPFO has requested users not to make repeated attempts to access online services or submit repeated requests during peak hours.

Are EPFO services available on UMANG app?

According to the notification on the UMANG app, “Due to the scheduled migration operations being carried out by the department, EPFO services are not currently available and are expected to resume soon. However, the EPFO Member Portal is now operational. Members can avail EPFO services through the EPFO Member Portal.

EPFO upgrades Unified Member Portal

After being down for almost a week due to planned system upgrade, EPFO’s Unified Member Portal is back online with a redesigned interface and several changes. One of the most important changes is that the portal is no longer available for UAN activation and direct UAN allotment. Instead, these services have been shifted to the UMANG app, where they can be availed using Aadhaar-based face authentication (FAT). An easier process for UAN retrieval has also been introduced in the upgraded portal, while services like death claim filing will continue to be available on the EPFO portal.
