July 1, 2026 by Uma Shankar

Employees Provident Fund Organization i.e. EPFO has extended the suspension of online member and employer services for one more day. Due to this decision of EPFO, you will not be able to access important facilities like online claim submission and passbook download. As per the notice given on the EPFO portal, the services will no longer be available till 11:59 pm on July 1 and it is expected that the services will resume from 12:00 am on July 2, 2026.

Why is the important service of EPFO closed?

This deadline has been extended because EPFO is working on consolidating the database of its claim processing system and upgrading the software. The purpose of this migration process, which started on June 26, is to improve processing efficiency, improve service delivery and strengthen the reliability and security of the retirement fund body’s digital platform. Until this process is completed, members and employers will not be able to access online services through the member interface and employer interface.

Which services are affected?

During the ongoing maintenance period by EPFO, members and employers will not be able to log in to the member interface and employer interface. All online facilities mentioned below will be unavailable through these platforms.

  • Online Claim Submission
  • downloading passbook
  • Claim Status Tracking
  • transfer request
  • Profile and personal details updates

Why is EPFO upgrading the system?

EPFO said that its objective is to strengthen the database and modernize the technology infrastructure. Once the migration is complete, the platform is expected to provide faster, more reliable and more secure online services.

EPFO said, we regret the temporary inconvenience caused by this necessary upgrade and appreciate your patience. With this upgrade we will be able to provide faster, more reliable and more secure services. Subscribers who had postponed tasks like claiming provident fund, downloading passbook or using other online services due to maintenance work, will be able to do these tasks again after the launch of the upgraded platform. As per EPFO’s schedule, online services are expected to resume from 12:00 am on July 2, 2026.
