England women’s cricket team has won the three-match T20 series from New Zealand. In the match played in Hove on 25th May, New Zealand team was limited to only 80 runs and England achieved this target in 37 balls in advance by losing just 3 wickets. Sophia Dunkley scored the maximum 22 runs for England. Heather Knight played 19 runs and Maia Bouchier played 19 runs. The script of England’s victory was written by its bowlers. The New Zealand team looked helpless in front of the deadly bowling of Charlie Dean and Danny Gibson.

Isabella Gage was dismissed by Charlie Dean for 3 runs. By the 8th over, New Zealand lost half the team for 32 runs. What was the turning point of the match?

The turning point of the match was New Zealand’s wrong decision. The pitch at Hove County Ground was suitable for bowling but the New Zealand captain won the toss and chose to bat first and this decision was the biggest reason for the defeat. New Zealand’s batsmen played a lot of dot balls. This team played a total of 69 dot balls, which increased the pressure on every batsman and the team was reduced to just 80 runs.

  • The first match of the T20 series was played in Derby on 20 May, which England won by 7 wickets.
  • New Zealand won the second match of the T20 series by 14 runs. This match was played in Canterbury on 26 May.
  • In the decisive match played in Hove, England defeated New Zealand by 7 wickets.

New Zealand-England’s next mission

New Zealand team now has to play in the T20 World Cup. This team will face West Indies in the first match. The match will be played in Southampton on 13 June. On the other hand, the England team will now play a three-match T20 series against India. The first match of the series will be played in Chelmsford on 28 May. The second T20 match will be played in Bristol on 30 May. The third T20 match will be held in Taunton on June 2.
