ED’s big noose on AITC! Investigation of transaction worth Rs 160 crore, raid at 5 places

July 7, 2026 by Uma Shankar

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has raided 5 places in connection with alleged money transactions related to All India Trinamool Congress. The agency says that this investigation was done in the matter of alleged wrong financial transactions, raising money and sending money here and there through bank accounts. Under the ambit of investigation are the companies of Carewell Group, which work in the aviation sector. According to the ED, between April 2023 and June 2026, about Rs 160 crore was sent from the accounts of All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) to Carewell Aviation India Private Limited and another company associated with it.

The agency claims that after this, Carewell Aviation India Private Limited sent about Rs 82.96 crore to a new company of its own between 2023 and 2026. During the raid, ED came to know that a major part of this amount was used through a company to purchase Embraer Legacy 600 aircraft and Agusta 109 SP helicopter. According to ED, about Rs 112 crore was spent on the purchase of these two. The investigating agency also claims that some foreign funds were also used in purchasing the helicopter, but most of the money came directly from AITC accounts.

The plane was given back on lease

ED further alleged that after the purchase, the Embraer Legacy 600 aircraft and Agusta helicopter were given back on lease to the Trinamool Congress. According to the agency, the planes, despite being purchased using money allegedly obtained from the party’s accounts, were later leased to the party, following which huge payments were made on the pretext of using the aircraft. The agency said that the entire arrangement appears to be highly suspicious and was probably designed to hide the real profitable purpose of the transaction.

Further investigation is underway

Investigators believe the flow of funds, creation of related entities and leasing arrangements point to a possible attempt to conceal the flow and use of funds. However, the search operation is still going on in this case and ED has said that further investigation is going on to trace the entire transaction of money and determine the role of all the persons and institutions involved in it. At the same time, Trinamool Congress has not yet responded to ED’s allegations.
