Drishyam 3 Hindi Review: Mohanlal’s ‘Drishyam 3’ gives emotional shock, not ‘CT Maar’ moment

May 21, 2026 by Uma Shankar

Drishyam 3 Review In Hindi: There is hardly any film fan in our country who does not remember the satsang held in Panaji on ‘2nd and 3rd October’ and the pav bhaji eaten after that. Even though Ajay Devgan played Vijay Salgaonkar in the Hindi belt, this suspense was cut short, but its real soul resides in Georgekutty of Kerala i.e. superstar Mohanlal. When ‘Drishyam 2’ came during the time of Corona, cinema lovers from Hindi to South were in doubt that brother, are you forcefully pulling the sequel? But the film came and silenced everyone.

now when ‘Drishyam 3‘ When the bugle sounded, the ‘experts’ of social media already sat down with their own bundle of theories as to where Georgekutty would re-locate the body this time. But ‘Drishyam 3’ director Jeetu Joseph is also a very clever player of this game. He took advantage of this over-confidence of the public and completely rejected the predictable pattern of the audience.

Drishyam 3 in new style

If you are thinking that this time too Georgekutty will turn the police into an uncle and you will applaud in the theatre, then the director has made a big joke for you. This time the film does not run on the basis of twist, but on the emotional shock of a helpless father. If you are also desperate to know what wonders Georgekutty does this time, then definitely read this review before going to the theatre.

What is the story of the film?

The story continues from where the second part ended. In the second part we saw that Georgekutty (Mohanlal) was trying to make a film based on his own life, in which he had made some changes. That film is finally on the verge of being made in ‘Drishyam 3’, but writer Vinayachandran is not at all ready to support Georgekutty in this project.

Here Georgekutty now wants to move ahead from all these troubles. His entire focus is on the marriage of his elder daughter Anju. He is looking for a new relationship for Anju, but during this time he realizes that some people are still following him like shadows. There is no visible movement from the police side, but some deep conspiracy is being hatched behind the scenes. Now how does Georgekutty track down those who want to destroy his family without attracting anyone’s attention? To know what happens next, you will have to watch ‘Drishyam 3’ in the theatre.

How is the movie?

‘Drishyam 1’ was a film which changed the definition of thriller films. ‘Drishyam 2’ repeated the same pace and mood, which the audience was not expecting at all. Director Jeethu Joseph knows very well that the audience has now decoded his pattern of creating twists. When we watch the film and see the moves of the rival gang, our mind immediately says, ‘Oh, Georgekutty must have anticipated this move.’

But, this is where Jeetu Joseph betrays you. This time he has completely rejected this predictable pattern of the audience. This time the film does not focus on how Georgekutty fools the police, rather it peeks into the mind of a father who is deeply scared about the practical life of his daughters. The noose of the law has reached his neck and the justice system is just looking for one chance. The end of the film does not give you any ‘whistle-blow’ moment, but gives you such an emotional shock that you will be stunned.

Direction and writing

One thing is always said about Jeetu Joseph in the corridors of cinema that he is not a visual filmmaker. That means the frames or cinematography of his films are not very grand. His real strength is his screenplay writing. He knows how to create tension among the audience and how to divert their attention and take the story to another direction.

In the first two parts, Georgekutty always used to turn the tables by playing on the front foot, but this time Jeetu has pushed Georgekutty on the backfoot. This time he is not attacking, but is facing attacks. This time the emotional evolution of all the characters has been beautifully woven into the screenplay. Be it the investigating police officers, Georgekutty’s family, or the people who had once helped Georgekutty. Everyone is going through a deep mental state. This change in characters saves the film from going into its old routine.

acting

As always, Mohanlal has presented this character to us with great ease. His acting looks very natural. This time the character of Georgekutty was to be shown as very weak and scared, and Mohanlal has brought out that helplessness and tension on screen very well through his eyes.

Talking about the rest of the star cast, Meena has maintained the old attitude of ‘Rani’. Anseeba Hassan has lived the calm and scared version of ‘Anju’ very well. This time, Esther (Anu) has got more screen time in the family dynamics and her work in some scenes is so excellent that in the coming days, the makers can see her as the lead actress.

Murali Gopi has repeated his role from the second part with full gusto. Siddiqui’s character (Prabhakar) looks more mature and emotional this time. There is a re-entry of an old man in the film, whose make-up may look a bit strange, but the performance of that actor is very strong (in Hindi it was the character of Gaitonde). Irshad Ali fits the bill as a police officer.

technical aspect

Technically the most important part of the film is its background score. Jeetu Joseph expressed confidence in the franchise’s old music composer Anil Johnson and Anil did not disappoint. The BGM of the film is its backbone, which maintains an atmosphere of nervousness and excitement among the audience sitting in the theater with each progressing scene. Cinematography and editing are fine, which does not allow the flow of the story to be broken, although visually there is nothing new in the film.

See it or not?

plus points

  • The film does not glorify Georgekutty as a god or a vicious criminal. He has been shown as weak and scared like a common man, which gives freshness to the film.
  • Mohanlal carries the entire film on his shoulders. His stance and facial expressions are amazing.
  • The emotional shock that comes in the end instead of the traditional twist remains in the mind for a long time.
  • At one point, Georgekutty regrets his own decisions and the film draws a great parallel between him and Varun, which is amazing writing.

Where is the lack left?

Like other thriller films of Jeetu Joseph, this time too the weakest link is its dialogues (if we judge from the sub-titles). The things which could have been explained through the expressions or gestures of the characters, have been explained through speaking. At many places, it seems as if the characters are ‘teaching’ the audience the intricacies of the story, which seems a bit strange and irritating. The humor of the first half and the conflict between parents and kids is a bit updated, but still slows down the pace of the story a bit in the beginning.

Overall, if you are going to see in ‘Drishyam 3’ that Georgekutty will once again throw dust in the eyes of the police and you will whistle in the theatre, then it is possible that you may be a little disappointed. But if you are interested in the fear, guilt and mental condition of a vicious man who can go to any extent to save his family, then this film is for you, because this time the story is not about Georgekutty’s mind, but about the heart of a helpless father.
