Dr. Manoj Shirure in custody and Alok module on radar… What has CBI got so far in NEET paper leak?

The Maharashtra connection is continuously deepening in the NEET-UG 2026 paper leak case which has made headlines across the country. CBI investigation is now revealing many shocking aspects of Nagpur module, coaching network, properties worth crores and alleged high-profile racket. According to the investigating agencies, Nagpur suspect Alok has emerged as an important face of this entire network in Vidarbha. On the other hand, another major action has been taken in Maharashtra in the NEET paper leak case. CBI has detained Dr. Manoj Shirure from Pune. Manoj is accused of buying leaked paper. Earlier on Wednesday, CBI had interrogated him for three hours at his hospital in Latur.

Talking about Alok, CBI is continuously interrogating him. There is a CBI team in Nagpur, while in Brahmapuri, Chandrapur, a CBI team also interrogated three students who have given the NEET exam this year. CBI suspects that Alok and his network distributed the leaked question paper to students from many affluent families of Nagpur, Chandrapur, Nanded and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. This entire network of ours ran under the name Alok Guru.

Group named Guru on Telegram

According to sources, the accused used to run a group on Telegram by the name Guru. The PDF file of the question paper was shared through this platform. The investigating agency claims that the paper was delivered in groups of 10-10 students and Rs 10 lakh to 15 lakh were charged for it. CBI suspects that the paper was delivered to hundreds of students through this network.

However, CBI is finding out the exact figure of how many students got these leaked papers, but according to sources, this figure could be closer to 1 thousand because in this network named Guru of Alok, many coaching classes, many medical colleges and students of Vidarbha and Marathwada were connected as agents. The agency has also raided the houses of 6 students associated with Alok network in Nagpur and Chandrapur.

Paper reached from Pune to Rajasthan

Investigation has also revealed that the question paper was transported from Pune to Rajasthan via Gurugram. The agencies are now trying to find out that people from which other states were involved in this racket. The biggest and shocking name of this entire matter is that of Shivraj Motegaonkar. Motegaonkar, who filed a PIL on behalf of students against the NEET paper leak in 2024, has now been made an accused in the 2026 paper leak case. Motegaonkar had agitated a lot regarding the NEET paper leak in 2024 and it is alleged that later he joined the same paper leak network and started leaking the papers himself.

According to CBI, the alleged leaked question paper has been recovered from Motegaonkar’s mobile phone. After this, his old video has gone viral, in which he is seen demanding justice for the students. Investigating agencies believe that the question paper may have been delivered to selected students under the guise of special courses like one-on-one mentoring.

Interrogation of Motegaonkar’s son, wife and doctors

After the arrest of Motegaonkar, CBI has also detained his son and wife for questioning. The agency suspects that his son, who appeared for the 12th exam this year, may also have benefited from the paper leak. Apart from this, four doctors in Latur and Nanded are also being interrogated. It is alleged that these people were close to Motegaonkar and were allegedly playing the role of facilitator in the paper leak network. At the same time, action has been intensified against Shivraj Motegaonkar’s RCC classes. Pune Municipal Corporation has taken action against illegal construction of RCC coaching classes in Pune.

Heavy police deployment has been deployed outside RCC classes in Latur. Students and parents who have paid the fees are continuously visiting the classes but the institute is closed. Dissatisfaction is also being seen among students and local organizations at many places. According to sources, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) has also warned of agitation. Incidents of eggs being thrown outside RCC classes have also come to light at some places.

According to the investigating agencies, 7 employees of the institute are said to be absconding with important documents. Now investigation into financial and construction irregularities has also started in this matter. Bulldozer action has been taken on the alleged illegal construction of coaching classes of Motegaonkar in Pune, while some premises have also been sealed. Questions have also been raised on the medical college project related to RCC classes in Latur.

What is the allegation against Dr. Manoj Shirure?

Manoj Shirure, a pediatrician from Latur, is accused of allegedly purchasing the leaked question paper for his son. The CBI is investigating from the angle that what was the role of the beneficiary students and their parents. According to sources, the CBI had earlier interrogated him at his hospital and other locations in Latur, after which he was detained from Pune.

It is being told that this is the first time that a parent has been arrested in this case. Investigation of Shivraj Motegaonkar and the alleged Nagpur module is also going on in this entire case. CBI is now busy connecting the links of students, parents, coaching network and financial transactions.
