News of crimes against women and cases related to domestic violence keep coming before us every day. Be it village or city, no area has remained untouched by cases of violence, but when we talk about the number of such cases, the number of such cases is more among women in rural areas as compared to cities. According to the latest data of National Family Health Survey-6, women living in villages have to face more violence from their husbands than women living in cities.
This violence done by the partner is not done only on normal days. The surprising thing is that most of the women living in villages have to face this kind of physical violence from their partners even during pregnancy. Many times, some women in the age group of 18-29 years become victims of sexual violence even before the age of 18 years. However, the cases of domestic violence have seen a decline of 6.9 percent compared to previous years.

Violence increased in South India
According to NFHS-6 data, the level of partner violence against women in the states of South India is higher than the national average. The special thing is that in states like Andhra Pradesh, Haryana, Jharkhand, Mizoram, Uttarakhand, West Bengal, Dadra-Nagar Haveli, Daman-Diu and Puducherry, women in cities have to face more violence from their husbands than women in villages.
