Discord in Punjab Congress! Bhupesh Baghel will meet former CM Channi, Raja Vadding stays away from the meeting

To resolve the infighting in Punjab Congress, an important meeting is going to be held on July 11 at 11 am between the faction of All India Congress Committee (AICC) General Secretary and Punjab in-charge Bhupesh Baghel and former Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi. However, this meeting will not be held at Congress Bhawan, rather the meeting will be held at the residence of senior Congress leader, former minister and MLA Rana Gurjit Singh in Sector-4, Chandigarh. Actually, the Channi-Randhawa faction had mainly put two conditions for this meeting, which have been accepted. Current Punjab Congress President Amarinder Singh Raja Wadding will be completely kept away from this meeting.

In this matter, Punjab Congress President Amarinder Singh Raja Wadding said that ‘in a day or two you will see all of us together’. Speaking to the media, Wadding said that Baghel had told him that separate meetings have been scheduled with the leaders on Saturday. When he was asked whether the Channi camp had put pressure on him not to attend the meeting, he said that he was not aware of any such demand. He said that he has no complaints against any leader and stressed that the Congress remains united.

‘Who is not ready to accept me’

While answering questions on the reports of Channi camp’s reluctance to accept him as the state Congress President, Vadding rejected this claim. He said, ‘Tell me the name of even one senior leader who has said that he is not ready to accept me. Channi, Sukhjinder Randhawa, Aruna Chaudhary, Pratap Singh Bajwa, tell me who among them has said this?’

Rejected reports of factionalism in Punjab Congress

Senior Congress leader Supriya Srinate has also rejected reports of factionalism in Punjab Congress before the assembly elections. He said, ‘When elections are held, I have full confidence that Congress will form its government’. He further said that politics is another name for ambition and every leader has some aspirations. He said that sometimes there are some differences of opinion, but then we all come together because everything will be resolved. People know that only Congress can take the state on the path of progress.
