June 27, 2026 by Uma Shankar

The case of theft of donations to Ram Temple is currently a topic of discussion in the entire country. Statements of leaders are continuously coming on this issue. In this series, Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh has also given a big statement regarding donation theft. He has described those who steal donations as thieves and dacoits. He said that ‘wherever they get a chance, they do their work, they have done a very disgusting thing. There can be no greater sin than this. Has played with the faith of crores of people. Be it a small fish or a big fish, no one will be saved in this case. An impartial investigation is being conducted.

Kirti Vardhan Singh has given a statement in this matter regarding Champat Rai, who was the General Secretary of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust. He said that Champat Rai was in a high position, it was not necessary that he had all the information, he came into the trust of the people. Now such a system is being made that such a thing will never arise there again.

Champat Rai was once a chemistry lecturer

Champat Rai was appointed as the General Secretary of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust in the year 2020. Bijnor-born Champat Rai, 79, was counted among the most influential people of Ayodhya. He was earlier a chemistry lecturer at RSM Degree College, Bijnor. Then in 1977, when emergency was in force, he was arrested. He remained in jail for about 18 months and then after being released, he left teaching and joined Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) in 1980. After that, in the 1980s, he became a second-tier leader of the Ram Mandir movement and gradually his hold became so strong that he became the General Secretary of the Trust.

What did Priyanka Gandhi say?

Congress general secretary and Wayanad MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Saturday strongly condemned the security lapses related to the alleged embezzlement of funds allocated for the Ayodhya Ram temple. He emphasized that this donation was not just a financial transaction, but a symbol of the collective faith and devotion of millions of citizens across the country.

Speaking to reporters, Priyanka Gandhi said that the misuse of funds collected from common citizens was part of a campaign and was a violation of the trust placed on the temple administration. He said that donations had been received from faithful people, believers and people of faith across the country and now those donations have been stolen. It is sad, shameful.
