He played his character in this film with such enthusiasm that along with the film, this dialogue also became a cult classic. But do you know that Govinda was also offered a role in this film, but he refused.
It has been 24 years since the release of ‘Devdas’. This film was released on 12 July 2002. There was also a character named Chunnilal, who was played by Jackie Shroff. However, this role was offered to Govinda before Jackie Shroff. Govinda had rejected this picture at that time because he was a superstar and he did not want to be the second lead in any film.
What did Manoj Bajpayee refuse?
Manoj Bajpayee Was also offered the role of Chunnilal. However, Manoj had refused Sanjay Leela Bhansali saying that he had always thought of playing the main character of Devdas. In an interview, Manoj Bajpayee had said that I had got Devdas, but I immediately refused. I had said that Sanjay Sir, I always wanted to become Devdas.
Manoj had also told that when he read the book on which this film is made and saw Dilip Kumar’s ‘Devdas’, he wanted to play the role of Devdas. He also said that he regrets rejecting this film.
