What is the allegation against Keshav Negi?
Keshav is 65 years old and lives in Dilshad Garden. He is a cook at ‘Flourish Stay Bed and Breakfast’ in Hauz Rani, Malviya Nagar. Police said that Negi was arrested after interrogating him for about 6 hours. According to the report of Times of India, Keshav told that the fire broke out shortly after switching on the electric stove in the kitchen. He said that the fire broke out due to a malfunction in the appliance. He told that the fire was so strong that it spread throughout the building within no time. The police allege that amid the thick smoke and chaos, Negi switched off the main power supply of the B&B and fled from there.
Keshav told that during the incident the electricity supply was cut, which also had a bad effect on the security system of the building. According to official reports, electronic exit systems did not function due to power outage, making it difficult for people to get out as the smoke and fire spread. It is believed that many people could not get out safely because the main exit routes were closed due to electronic systems not working. A police source said that the investigation has revealed negligence on the part of the cook, which led to the situation which led to the deaths.

What did Sanjeev Jha say?
Aam Aadmi Party MLA Sanjeev Jha said that the deaths in Malviya Nagar fire incident are very painful. Our condolences to the families of the victims. But targeting only Keshav Negi in the name of investigation raises many questions. If security standards are ignored in the hotel, then responsibility should be fixed and action should be taken against the biggest culprits. Any attempt to save the real responsible by making a poor employee a scapegoat will not be tolerated.
