Delhi Assembly forms more than 35 committees for 2026-27, focus on better governance and public service

Delhi Assembly has constituted all the committees of the House for the legislative year 2026-27. Assembly Speaker Vijendra Gupta made its official announcement. Chairman Vijendra Gupta said that through these committees, in-depth discussion on matters related to public welfare, effective monitoring and better legislative process will be ensured. He expressed confidence that the committees will live up to the expectations of the citizens of Delhi and present important recommendations.

Delhi Assembly has formed about 35 committees for 2026-27, which include all the subjects like business advisory, finance, education, health, welfare, environment, women and children, disabled people, transgenders, Scheduled Castes/Tribes, minorities and other backward classes. Speaker Vijendra Gupta will be the chairman of several key committees, while the command of other committees has been handed over to senior MLAs.

Who got the responsibility of which committee?

Delhi Assembly Speaker Vijendra Gupta has been made the chairman of the Business Advisory Committee, Non-Government Bills and Resolutions Committee, Rules Committee, General Purposes Committee and Library Committee. Whereas Vice President Mohan Singh Bisht has been given the post of Chairman of Government Assurance Committee, Question and Reference Committee and Peace and Harmony Committee.

Manoj Kumar Shokeen has been given the chairmanship of the Petition Committee, Pravesh Ratna the Delegated Legislation Committee, Pradyuman Singh Rajput the Privileges Committee, Kailash Gangwal the Chairmanship of the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe Welfare Committee, Gopal Rai the Committee on Papers laid on the Table of the House and Mrs. Poonam Sharma the Chairmanship of the Women and Child Welfare Committee.

Ahir Deepak Choudhary has been made the Chairman of Student and Youth Welfare Committee, Anil Kumar Sharma of Environment Committee, Kartar Singh Tanwar of Conduct Committee, Tarvinder Singh Marwah of Minority Welfare Committee, Raj Karan Khatri of Other Backward Classes Welfare Committee and Kuldeep Solanki of the Committee on Matters Related to Unauthorized Colonies.

Chief Whip Abhay Kumar Verma has been appointed chairman of the committee related to salary and allowances of members, Kailash Gehlot has been appointed chairman of the committee related to protocol violation and contemptible behavior, Om Prakash Sharma has been appointed chairman of the Delhi Municipal Corporation Committee, Tilak Ram Gupta has been appointed chairman of the Senior Citizens Welfare Committee and Karnail Singh has been appointed chairman of the Transgender and Disabled Welfare Committee.

Talking about the standing committees, Chandan Kumar Choudhary was appointed as the department-affiliated standing committee on administrative matters, Umang Bajaj as the department-affiliated standing committee on education, Mrs. Neelam Pahalwan as department-affiliated standing committee on welfare, Sanjay Goyal as the department-affiliated standing committee on health, Shyam Sharma as the department-affiliated standing committee on development, Sandeep Sehrawat as the department-affiliated standing committee on public utility services and civic amenities and Ravinder Singh Negi as the department-affiliated standing committee on finance and transport. Has been made the chairman of the standing committee.
